I've been playing one of my new games, Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, for days. Even though I beat it the first day and unlocked everything, it's still rather addicting. In this case, I've been thinking about construction a demolition derby mod, or maybe even a stand-alone game.
I plan for the mod/game to be as realistic as it can be. Whereas the tires can get flats if a piece of metal is torn off a car, wheels can fall off if hit in the correct aspect, and unlike in most games, it's isn't so easy to flip a car, but when one is it can't flip back over unless hit again or depending on the rules, the officials draw the red flag and flip it back over. That's just a short few of the many I have.
Anyhow, I also see a paint feature within the mod/game, where you are able to paint your car any way you see fit; wheels/tires, bumpers, everything and anything. I believe there should be stencils, level's to draw straight lines, and much more features such as these.
I believe it'd be awesome as well to be able to have the driver react accordingly to your actions, such as if you're driving in reverse, the driver actually turns his head to see. He may also jerk, depending on how hard you are hit or how hard you hit something else.
Furthermore, I plan for the mod/game to be the most realistic racing/driving game to date. So, if you or anyone you know may be interested in helping out, or have any ideas that might come handy, either PM me here on the modDB, send me an email, or simply respond to this thread. Thanks in advance!

You might want to get the source code for Racer, or even work with Ruud van Gaal to make the current Racer engine better and add these kinds of features. Racer is supposed to be a everything type racing game, can't hurt to add destruction derby.

Thanks for your input, Ferro! I'll be sure to look into that. But, it isn't destruction derby, it's demolition derby. There's a difference; Psygnosis developed/published Destruction Derby, trying to come up with a new type of community. Even though the series was a success, I believe it was a failure and a disgrace to the folks.

Sorry about that, I know the game was different than what you were talking about, I just didn't actually bother to change the name. I understood what you meant though.

I know a guy who put a 60-something T Bird in a demolition derby, boy was everybody pissed off at him for that! He did it though because he owned a scrap yard and hte guy who owned the car was storing it there and wasn't making his payments. The owner wanted to get rid of the car, and couldn't get it in his name. He did win the derby though. They don't make frames like that anymore, solid steel everything.

Exactly. It's hard to find a big but mid-size car that's built tough enough to both receive and inflict damage. Anything is really capable of happening in a derby, it's just a matter of the few short seconds the drivers have to react accordingly.
Anyhow, I have enough right now, but I'm still saving up for when I find a derby car. My fairgrounds holds their derby sometime in July, so I should have enough time. I usually have my uncle or brother drive it, seeing how I'm too young to even have a license, let alone drive in a derby! :P

For the last time, this is not intended as a destruction derby game! Destruction derby doesn't exist; Psygnosis created the idea based off of demolition derby to get income flowing!

See thats whats nice about Racer. Its physics are still beta, the whole game is, but its designed to be as realistic as possible, which means that any mod for it can easily be as realistic as possible.

I think he means its not a real life event, its just a game, whereas a demolition derby is a real thing.

    Thank you, Ferro! :D
And by the way, I'd have to get one of the game staff to add the game first. :|

    edit
Also, I've been thinking of some names that would fit appropriately. I was thinking along the lines of Crunch Time, Demoderby, and/or something 'out of the ordinary.'
