I've been having this idea but I doubt I can pull it off anytime soon so I'll just suggest it here and if anyone wants it, take it, just erm...give a teeny credit. :D Well, I think to put this idea into Half-Life 2 would be most appropriate, but it's your choice if you decide to it.

Customise, as I will call it now, plays on the fact that there are many many modders out there who want to create a modification for HL/HL2 but have little resources to do so. Programmers for one thing, are especially hard to find, good ones are busy or will take no interest. To put it uber-short, Customise is a mod that allows players to create their own mods. How, you ask.

Well, simple, we do it from Worldcraft. That is where the main coding will be focused on. The plan is to give the community a very souped-up version of Wor-- wait, it's VHE now-- VHE, where they can do almost everything there. Perhaps there will be a point-based entity that configures the style of the game : Teams, Co-op, Deathmatch or something like that. Or perhaps make it in a mapname.cfg file.

Of course, Customise will be very community based. And, it will target a very wide scope of players, since every single map will be a mod in itself. There are no rules as to what you can do, it's a Lego kinda thing, Customise gives them the blocks they build it themselves. Successful maps might even carry a sequel. Or if they ever get enough resources : create a mod team themselves.

If it is released, the creators of Customise might want to encourage people to submit their finished maps in an official forum, so they can include them in Customise updates.
