Ok, I might as wel get straight to my point.....I have a mod idea...yea here is the concept. This mod would probably be for Hl2 The basic concept is that you have 2 buildings across from each other(a good sniping range away)with a plain or field or something in between them. There will be two teams each team starting in its own building. At first the teams will be enclosed in the building with no way to look outside to the other building...this is were the gameplay comes in...in the corner of the buildings there will be boxes filled with tiny bombs of some sort. The point of the game is to pick up one of these bombs, plant it on the large wall facing the other building, it blows up and makes a small hole in the wall,you shoot through it and try to kill the members of the other team in the other building who are also trying to shoot at you. You can plant as many bombs as you want and make as many holes as you want but.....after so long, and so many holes the structure gives way and falls down on your team, killing you all(The new Hl2 physics engine should make this seem realistic). So you and your team have to work togather and kill the other team across the field without having the building fall on you! Your team has to plant a bomb every so often just to make the game fair...(If they dont they will get penalized and the entire team loses some health or a random hole is blown into the teams wall). Every once and a while massive explosions will happen in the middle of the field throwing up dirt and things in the air that will provide cover or cause you to lose your target (the screen will also shake to add flavor to the game). As for guns there could be various types of gameplay modes such as futuristic, WWII, modern, and anything else thought up. Different modes will change the look of the game and how the weapons and bombs look (Im hoping this will add variety). Some things that would be bad about this game. Well thats my idea.. if you have any Ideas on how to fix the bad things please post, or if you just plain dont like the idea and wanna curse me out for even walking this earth I'd like to hear your opinion. I'm sorry for any gramatical errors(I didnt use spell check).Also a while back I told a friend of mine to post an idea like this on this website but I dont think he did...If he did do so and this is all a repeat for you...im sorry i hope you wil get over it. Thanks for your time -- The smilie knows best. |

lol that sounds so sweet and so simple. It could definitely work. You should indeed add more gamemodes however, would add more replay value. |

Sajt that is the most completely false statement ever |

I like the concept but....
ALRIGHT! GO ORIGIONALITY! |

No, it's not false, but it will be hard. It means you can't use BSP in your maps, each wall has to be a breakable physics prop. You really can only have two buildings here, as the amount of calculations that will go on server side might be a little intense, but thats something that will come through in testing, Edit: Silent, I think the only game that's right for his mod is indeed HL2, so don't knock him for that, Edited by: iCeDaLe |

Ok then Mr. silent_shadow900 (Original name by the way) what engine would you suggest? -- The smilie knows best. |

silent wasn't trying to be an ass, this forum is kind of tired of newbies posting about their hl2 mod ideas, though you don't seem to be a newbie at game design in the least bit. |

We don't know alot about the farcry engine, It's nothing but prettiness. |

Using the method I just told Blinks about with the physics props, HL2 is really his only choice silent, at least IMO. *edit* woot 100 posts! Edited by: iCeDaLe |

The only thing with using props is: Bullet fire would move them also...I just want the bombs to blow small holes in the wall... that might be a major problem in creation of this mod. -- The smilie knows best. |
||

Well you could easily code a system where the prop can only be movable by the bomb class. That takes care of the bulletfire issue. That is hard about the small chunks though, perhaps you can see if hammer lets you stack props on top of one another and piecing together the walls like a puzzle. Or you can try and code it. |

Coders don't come easy these days. I had to build most of my old mod's alpha release off of tutorials... Before my harddrive died and I lost the mod. |

this sounds interesting, yes indeed more gameplay ideas, and whats the name of it? or do you not have a name... Edited by: Spector -- snetErz.com - Web Design |

What use is a title if there is no solid concept behind it? I could sit down for hours and think of a clever name for this game but that would only take away from time I could be concepting and making the game better. Edited by: Blinks -- The smilie knows best. |

well you got alot better concept of the idea than others around here... -- snetErz.com - Web Design |

Exactly. You see me complaining in other posts about people who don't have a solid grip on design, we need more people who know what they are doing in this forum to make it better, just my IMO. Coding is indeed hard to find these days, but they do seem more ready to come if you have lots of media. So maybe churning that out after you write a design document is a priority. |
