In Windows (win8 at least) Unity is everywhere - talk about a mess!
Why a program need leave its nest is beyond me.
And why is there no complete uninstall option?

HOW TO ALMOST COMPLETELY REMOVING UNITY

1) Remove Application
... Control Panel Programs and features
... Uninstall Unity
... Uninstall Unity Web Player
2) Leftovers
... Program Files
Find the folder Unity
right-click and delete
... ProgramData
Find the folder Unity
right-click and delete
3) AppData
... You may have to switch on see hidden files in File Explorer.
... Explorer >> View >> Options
... Make sure Show Hidden Files is switched on
... Go to your user folder.
... e.g. C:\Users\MyUser\Appdata
... Unity is in 3 folders
... Local
... LowLocal
... Roaming
It also is in the folder - below the Program Files(x86) in default drive (C: normally)
Registry
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE REGISTRY - BE CAREFUL !!! THIS TASK IS STRAIGHT FORWARD BUT IF YOU BREAK THE REGISTRY YOU CAN BREAK WINDOWS !!
ADVISED : YOU CAN SAVE A COPY OF THE REGISTRY FROM WITHIN REGEDIT
1) Find the RUN program (in win8 just use Search and type in 'run')
2) In Run enter regedit and hit return
3) In regedit
Find then right-click and delete:
... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unity
... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unity Technologies
NOTE: There are other keys for Unity in the registry - I presume you don't need to remove them but what do I know? BE CAREFUL !!

1) Save new projects in a disk location without spaces in the path name - should not be necessary but bug related to this in certain configurations.
