Grab it now! Rumor has it that it's hard to get the download going during the day because of traffic.

fools, use bittorrent or fork over your geek license immediately

edit : after playing, i can safely say that the sys reqs are utterly wrong, as i was running it smoothly at maybe 15fps on a 1.2ghz and a 512 vid card

review in one sentence : BF42 with a modern day mod, and better graphics; if you didnt like 42 dont even bother with this. (ha, cheated with the semicolin)

I just played it as well. It was a lot of fun, but when I was trying to play a 64-man server, it was quite laggy on my computer. Not to mention, there were a bunch of TKers on there to practically ruin the experience for everyone.

But hey, if they weren't there, I'd probably have more fun. BF1942 ran a lot better on my computer, but I knew that this system wouldn't be handle too many big games. It makes me quite nervous about F.E.A.R. and how it will handle on here. :(

If you cant play BF2, then dont even get your hopes up for F.E.A.R.

Jun 11 2005 Anchor

Oh, my system can play BF2. It runs pretty decent on single-player, just slows down on multiplayer. I'll just wait until the F.E.A.R. beta is released for everyone and I'll give it a try. It won't look like the video footage you see on places like IGN, but it should perform rather alright.

So the graphics card specs are wrong? I was a bit annoyed when I read what GFX cards it only ran on, as I have a lowly FX 5200.

yeah SCM, remember we have the same vid card?
it also says the pentium celeron is unsupported, but look at me.

though.. ippo.. how can you run it better in SP, thats a paradox as you're PC is also doing the AI whereas it doesnt have to worry about it in MP..

It runs fine on my Athlon XP 1800+ with 768 RAM and a Radeon 8500 64MB. But the texture resolution is very low, i cant turn it higher. So it looks pretty ugly, prolly thats why it runs fine >.<

It's because I do believe that there are a lot less players running around in single-player. I joined a 64-man server before, and it was really laggy. I joined a 32-man, and it felt better. When you're offline, a lot of the weight on the server is taken off, and it's basically running off your computer's power instead of everyone else's combined.

And the reason it's doing good on a lot of your guys's computers is because it optimizes itself for what your system can handle. That way, you sort of get the same experience, but you still feel crummy in the end for not having better specs.

I think it is a right let down, and I prefer BFV or 1942 any day.

Despite all the positive feedback, I have to be honest. I think I'll stick with Joint Ops. These modern war games get to a point where they can't be any more innovative. Plus playing in 150 player matches in Joint Ops is great :)

I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm just saying I don't feel like adding another modern war game to my collection.

Jun 13 2005 Anchor

I have to admit, I love Joint Ops more than Battlefield 2 as well, despite only playing the demo of the first one. I mean, even with 100 players, my computer didn't do so bad. Not to mention, when I was in the beds of trucks or in a boat, I could hit E, and while I was still on the transportation, lay down and snipe over the edge without getting caught. I also loved hiding among the brush and trees and become Mr. Uber Snipe-j0-ass. :D

Maybe it's because my computer can't handle Battlefield 2's specs, but hey, I'll head on over to the cyber bar sometime and give it a try, and see if I still feel the same way then.

It runs fine on my comp on low, but it's very slow when I change it to medium.

The game itself plays pretty much exactly the same as BF1942, a bit dissapointing really.

I've been playing it for several days now and I simply love it. It runs fine on the following specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
nvidia GeForce FX5700
1GIG PC3200 DDR Rams

That's about what's in my acer here. It's a great game... Should've ordered that instead of HP6 (don't ask, they are teh r0ckz!)...

I finally got it installed yesterday, and really enjoy it. While most people say that it is just BF1942 with better graphics, I totally disagree. There are so many subtle (as well as major) improvements that make it a lot more enjoyable for me than BF1942 ever was. Also, the graphics look GREAT!

Here are my specs (that matter):
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
512mb PC3200 DDR Ram

And I am running it at 1152x864 with all settings on medium, except shadows which are on high. And at 20+ FPS! WOOT!

Definately going to buy this one.
