Like most people here, I understand the plight of an indie developer. I stumbled upon this reply to a game critique that I thought was one of the best I have ever heard:

See the Comments section here

Firstly this individual comments on a Free Game by a small indie studio with this highly insightful comment:

Allen Alomia
so boring and should be removed in playstore

Then he seems to think that's not enough and adds a second comment:

Allen Alomia
fucking stupid game

The response from (I guess) the developer was amazing:

Sixth Gear Studios

Hi Allen,

It is a shame you do not seem to be enjoying your free game. Fortunately, the incredible Google Play Store has an amazing array of titles covering many genres, gameplay mechanics and visuals styles to suit even the most demanding of customers. Just a quick browse reveals so many amazing possibilities, how one could ever be bored is a mystery.

Personally, I am always stunned by the imagination, skill, dedication and technical prowess that some of these tiny indie game developers manage to produce. Sometimes a title is a pure exercise in personal development. That rare human trait in all truly wonderful people that pushes them outside the norm. A desire just to know if seemingly impossible goals may indeed be feasible. It never ceases to amaze me when I see a hand full of eager gamers push for a mutual dream and, actually achieve it. Fame and fortune may well be out of reach, but that was never their first thought anyway. Indie Game Developers live and breath games. There is probably no single game in existence where you could not find some level of achievement that deserves appreciation. They are almost a separate species, in the sense that they live to serve a bigger purpose than themselves. Their thoughts are of little else other than how to enrich the lives of others through gamification. They create worlds that baffle the imagination, boost intelligence and cognitive responses through strategy and problem-solving, and create social interactions that actually advance humanity. From the one-man band with 50 downloads to multi-million dollar smashes. I applaud every single one of them. Indie or not.

This is the soul of a true Game Developer. Boring? I can't imagine how. But, perhaps that's just me.

I would love to compile a Blog on great responses like this, does anyone have any more they know of?
