For those who have played games like Outpost 2: Divided Destiny way back in the day or even now (because of nostalgia) then you know where this is going. Banished is an awesome game and shows a lot of potential for modding. Hopefully if the developer releases the necessary tools for a mod community I'm wondering how much of an undertaking it would be to do a total conversion from being a medieval era survival game to something far in the future of stranded colonists struggling to survive on a hostile world. The winter season was the focal point around Banished seeing as how you need to keep your people from starving and freezing to death. The focal point here is oxygen and making a barren world capable of sustaining life (ala The Martian) while at the same time discovering this far and distant planet at one time supported life. Resources will be part of it but more importantly is prospecting for useful minerals and salvaging from the downed space ship that brought everyone there. Ship parts are strewn all over the place and like the maps the values are totally random and making the best out of whatever you find. Over time as the colony develops there will be options to establish a true colony or sorts. Depending on the mod tools released there will probably a huge demand in mechanic overhauls. What do you think? |

This sounds awesome from the get go. I never heard of Outpost and I don't know about the modding capabilities of Banished.. I'd love to contribute though. I'm a composer, I love making experimental, obscure, ambient/electronic music so SciFi sounds like something for me. Hit me up if you'd like me to send you my CV. -- I write, compose, record, produce and play music. If you have anything to record, mix, write etc. You have me! Looking specifically for a bigger game project. |
