I've been developing the mod for months and have begun putting together the team. Please take a moment to visit It will be made as an Unreal Tournament 2004 modification. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future with three nations in a war to gain advanced technology. The gameplay will revolve around strategy- While it can easily degenerate into a fragfest, one intelligent player would be able to break the balance easily with any of a variety of simple tactics. Just for the sake of redundancy, Ad Infinitum is a mod like no other. (Obligatory statement alert!) How, though? There can be either two or three teams on a map which will be the choice of the mapper. Each team is broken up into squads, and this is where things get different. Each player commands a squad of AI soldiers, deciding what class they belong to as far as equipment goes and giving them orders during combat. As a simple rule, the more warriors in a battle, the more room for tactics to play a role. A 2 vs 2 in most FPS games is a boring thing, where the only choice is to duke it out in pairs or team up on one enemy hoping not to leave yourself too vulnerable- When each of those two is somewhere between four and six, simple tactics such as cover fire and multi-pronged attacks are borne. And if 2 vs 2 can be changed so drastically, imagine the possibilities of a 10v10v10. And just to clear up something that has caused confusion in other forums- Each player is in the field, this is nothing like say, Shattered Galaxy. I've had a lot of accusations of just making a Natural Selection/Savage clone, when this is nothing of the sort. This will stress servers a lot, but it could've been worse- It's not like the mod is going to be Source based, in which case it would not only stress servers but kill them alltogether. =/ As being the lead designer, I look forward to intelligent feedback of any kind.
