Welcome back to our continuing in-depth look at Loose Toast's upcoming arcade-action space-shooter, Decimation! Time to spotlight a special feature of the player's ship: Nano-bots!

UI 1

Humanity's finest have equipped the newest generation of fighters with the best nano-bot technology to date. These tiny machines are synced with your ship's onboard computer, and perform a variety of different functions. When the fighter takes hull damage, the nano-bots will automatically begin slowly repairing the damage, eventually restoring the fighter to full health.

Space Scrap 1

Two pieces of debris floating around the player's fighter.

Additionally, and this is where the nano-bots shine, the small chunks of debris from your destroyed battle station can be scooped up to improve and upgrade your fighter. Once acquired, the nano-bots take the debris and process it down into it's base molecules and reconstruct those into whatever upgrade is requested. Your onboard computer can set priority for which improvements are to be made in what order. Upgrades such as increasing your missile capacity, improving your armor and laser cannon damage are all invaluable for the later stages, where the enemy will easily overwhelm any under-equipped player.

UI 2

In between battles, when warping to defend another star world, the Upgrade UI will display, where the player can select the priority for which upgrades are to be constructed. A minimum of 1 upgrade must be chosen, but up to 4 is allowed, and are built in order starting with the first selected. Once your ship acquires a piece of debris, the nano-bots automatically begin building the priority one upgrade, and when completed, begin the second, and so on.

Keeping a watchful eye on your tactical scanner is advised, since your computer helpfully highlights all space debris with a yellow dot. All-in-all, nano-bots and the fighter's built-in upgrade system are the most useful tools at the player's disposal, but good strategy is required to use them to their utmost potential.

I hope you'll check back regularly as we continue to write about the various features and enemies of our upcoming game: Decimation!
