General assumptions:
My mod changes the game that the two-handed, spear and halberd units are more useful on battlefield because in vanila the most cost effective units was cavarly and shielded infantry. I gave up on solving the problem of two-handed units by removing the push animations because this made the battles look closer to those of Rome 1. So I increased the melee defense for these units because previously low defense meant that they could not launch enough attacks to kill enemies with shields.
INSTALATION:
- Unpack the Total_balance mod archive
- Copy unpacked folder to Medieval 2 Total War instalation folder - steamapps/common/Medieval II Total War/mods
- Lauch Steam
- Go to Library
- Right click on Medieval 2 and select properties
- In launch options type: --features.mod=mods/Total_balance_mod
- Lauch the game
Changes:
- Mod is based on Bare_geomod by Gigantus
- All archers, arquebusiers and musketeers now have longer range (basic archers, arquebusiers - 120->180, elite archers, musketeers - 160->240)
- All spearmen units now has higher attack (5->10, 7->14, 9->16, 12->16)
- All medium/high tier spearmen has +5 more melee defence (eg. Sergeant spearmen, Armoured sergeants), the exception are special units that require separate balancing (eg. Papal guard)
- Units like Dismounted lancers now has 150 men per unit (huge scale)
- Pikemen has lower attack (4 to 7) and don't have stat_secondary weapon weapon anymore (sword)
- Dismounted Feudal knights now costs 470 and has lower attack 13->11
- Dismounted Druzhina, Boyar sons and Huscarls now costs 450
- All two-handed units has +10 melee defence, the exception are special units that require separate balancing
- Most of two-handed units has attack around 12 (the exception are: sword, axe and billmen units)
- Billmen now costs 370, Heavy bill(men) (militia) costs 500
- All halberd units has attack from 8 to 10, don't have phalanx formation (still has long_pike atribute),medium/high tier halberd has +5 melee defence, the exception are special units that require separate balancing (eg. Swiss guard, Obudshaer)
- All halberd units don't have stat_secondary weapon anymore
- Introduced the fix for passive AI on campaign map.
