Another user commented to me before that when they made a fresh install of the new mod and booted up their old save, there were many things messed up about it. When they started a new game, everything was fine. However, nobody else has commented reporting the same issue, so neither of us are sure if it was a strange problem on his end, or a problem with the mod itself.

Please try to load your previous save, and let me know if you see messed up names and things like that. If so, you will need to start a new game. If it is an issue with the mod, I would like to make other people aware of that and add that disclaimer to the mod's article and download summary that the new version is not save game compatible.

What kind of error are you getting? A few people have reported a similar problem with getting an error when trying to extract the files, however it seems that it was always a problem with the moddb website. Somehow or another, the download gets messed up along the way. Please try to download it again, see what happens, and if it gives the same error, wait for a few hours or a day and try again. Eventually it will work, there's nothing wrong with the mod itself.

I had this issue too, it was caused by using an outdated version of 7zip.

Hey I love that someone will be working on this mod again, but one problem I am having it as I am playing is the muskets, and pistol sounds seem to be very quiet, and everytime I fire my pistol if I am not moving I can't hear it, and even when moving it is quiet. Also in the future is there any chance that you will just unite the armies, and make them one faction or at least start them out with alliances or something. It just seems weird that at some point they would fight eachother. Anyway I just still wanna thank you for doing the work, and trying to fix this mod up thank you, and I can't wait for the next update!

Also I know 1860s had shootouts as tourneys, and I was wondering if you could do something like that or redesign the current tourney's because at the moment it is sorta like a battle royal. I know I might be sounding a bit needy but I am just trying to give honest feedback, and some answers. I love the mod, and know the long process to make it great. I can't wait to see what it turns into.

Hey thanks for playing the mod, glad you are enjoying it so far!

Are the musket and pistol sounds quiet or are they not playing at all? There is a problem with the gunfire sounds, the source is not known but it is possible the game is sometimes overwhelmed by too many different sounds at once, and the gunfire sound effects cut out for a bit and then come back.

The armies will not be united in the future, and the relations between armies of the same faction are so high, it is very unlikely they will go to war with each other. It is more likely they make peace with enemy armies and then start fighting with them again later in the game. I have already experienced that, in fact. Have you so far had friendly armies fight each other? If so, let me know, because that is a problem.

I am still trying to work out what to do with the tourneys, the best idea so far is fist fights, but I worry that the damage output from using fists will not be enough to knock anyone unconscious quickly and the fights will just drag on forever. I don't really want to have shootouts replace tourneys because it doesn't really make sense. Volunteering to get into a gunfight and you can bet on it and other people watch it? And the bullets don't kill you either? You can see why I would prefer fist fights, it would make more sense as a kind of boxing match thing. The betting, the audience, the being knocked unconscious instead of killed, all fit perfectly to a boxing match, and it would suit to the history as well.

Thanks for your feedback, it's very much appreciated!

I think the sounds might be on my end I have recently noticed that most of my games aren't as loud as they normally are, and missing sound so that is a my bad.

As for the uniting the nations I haven't have it happen on this version of the mod, but on the original one I did notice it happen once or twice so that is why I wanted it because I feared something like that could happen.

L'Aigle managed to do the fist fights pretty well maybe you could structure it like that, and have a sorta ranking system for boxing.

Also I wouldn't mind a sorta sign up like L'Aigle has either mainly because their are so many generals for the different armies I can hardly find the right one to properly join a faction (as a merc that is).

This is more of a question but do you plan to add Washington to the map, and more importantly for me anyway (this has been a pet peeve of mine from the old version of the mod as well) Can you have it so your armies can move, and fire at the same time or at least fire move then reload. I know you can simply give them the order to halt firing to get them in position but it would be nice if I didn't have to worry so much about them.

As for a request will you make it so Skirmishers have better Firearm proficiency it just doesn't feel right that people who should be able to shoot farther away have the same chance to hit as a trained close quarter infantry. Also maybe a camera after death I hate the fact that when I fall in combat my army has to retreat, and all it does is make my army take more losses then it should have.

Lastly do you have a discord I would love to join to get more information on updates, and I can send pictures of anything bad that you might not have seen like for example the map of Columbia a town far south has a bit of a broken map I was defending the town from Union bandits, and my army couldn't get over the hill, and we were spawned a good distance away from the town. I had to ride over, and deal with them all myself which isn't to bad, but still.

Thank you for the response, and answering me I may sound like I am chewing your ear off but I honestly just want to see this mod be kickass because there isn't a real developed Civil War mod out there. Thank you for revamping/remaking it, and taking the time to read my little rant!

Oh if other games are experiencing the same things, then yes, that's something else besides the mod. It's no problem to report an issue by mistake, it's good news for me that the mod is actually working properly haha. I hope you figure out what the issue is for you in regards to the sound, and if you can, please do share your solution if you find one, for anyone out there who might be reading now or in the future who has the same problem you do.

In regards to uniting the factions, I do agree with you that the armies should never be fighting each other, and I did the best I could with the knowledge and tools I have available to make sure they don't, but uniting the factions is not something that is going to happen, at least not for the foreseeable future. Even if I wanted to unite the factions, it is something beyond my ability right now. Besides that, the way I've designed it right now with the different armies, is something I consider to be unique and more interesting than a generic Union and Confederate faction. It shows the player a bit of history as well that not many are aware of. Many people have a very cursory understanding of the conflict, and think that it was just a blob of blue and grey called Union and Confederate, duking it out for four years.

America is a very large country, and back then, much of it was wilderness and farmland. The war couldn't be fought by one gigantic army led by a single general. It needed to be delegated between different armies fighting in different theatres, led by their own generals. So the different factions being the different armies fighting in their own respective theatres of operation, with the correct generals as well, does a fairly good job of representing this aspect of the history.

Washington D.C. will be in the next release of the mod, along with an complete change to many location names and their position on the map.

I tried to make it so that long guns can be reloaded while moving, but that's not working out. So that will have to wait for now, but I don't think it will remain a mystery for very long. I've seen other mods that have that ability, so I know it's possible.

The only way to get soldiers to immediately move after firing, is you have to tell them to cease fire (if firing at will) and to not use their ranged weapons. Either switch to melee or blunt weapons immediately after firing, and then order them to move. Once they are in position, switch back to use weapons at will, and your soldiers will start to reload. I've noticed myself how much it hampers maneuvering your soldiers quickly when they fire and then reload right away, so some guys get shot before they can move. Just have to do the best we can with the limitations we currently have.

Skirmishers are already slightly more proficient with firearms than soldiers without experience. They are not meant to be extremely accurate, accuracy is more the job of the marksmen and the sharpshooters. The skirmishers are more of a screening force, they are essentially a light infantry unit. More accurate than the average soldier, but they are not snipers.

The way I use them, I hold back my infantry and cavalry in cover behind a hill or something, and I order the skirmishers to spread out as much as they can and they engage the enemy first to make them waste their first volley, which is always the most dangerous, and to pick them off and occupy the enemy's attention while I maneuver my infantry into attack position. Maybe I also decide to take mounted infantry around the flanks to dismount and begin firing into them from the sides. Or, if I have good ground for defense, I hold my infantry back on the high ground, and use skirmishers and mounted infantry to deploy ahead and try to bait the AI into attacking my superior position.

I hate falling in combat and losing most of my army as much as you do. It really bothers me too, trust me. Until I can get that sorted out, just make sure you save before combat.

There is no discord for the mod, but that's actually not a bad idea to make one. For now though, all updates and news are posted here, on moddb. If you want to send any screenshots of problems in the time being, there is a bug report thread in the forum where you can post pictures. I will take a look at Columbia and see what the problem is. From what you describe, most likely will just need to move some entry points.

All of your feedback is always appreciated, the community is always encouraged by me to share their thoughts, opinions, suggestions, and of course to report any and all problems that I am not aware of yet. Thanks for taking the time to share what you have to say, enjoy the mod and keep a look out for the next release, it is imminent. The vast majority of work is done, I will soon begin work on taking screenshots for the mod page and writing the release article. I am considering making a trailer as well to show everything off in a more interesting way. :)
