I am having trouble using the installer. I have the GOG version and have it installed on another internal drive, yet the installer never gives me the chance to point to the directory though it fails installation and tells me it needs the full path. When I click 'Install' this error message is shown: "Setup: Internal Error: An attempt was amde to expand the 'app' constant before it was initilized." Followed by "You must enter the full path to the GameData folder."

uninstall remaster 1.2 via Windows control panel first. Then run the 1.3 installer.

did you run the installer 1.3 before you looked for the uninstaller? The installer uninstalls the old version but crashes when continuing with installing for some users. I wasn't able to reproduce that, so i couldn't fix that. Just run the installer another time and it'll skip the uninstall process and starts installing directly

same solution. Run the uninstaller from 1.2 before installing 1.3.

I had deleted the game directory restoring to a previous copy not knowing the 1.1.2 version made a registry edit. Worked great. Thank you. The mod is essential on my 1440p monitor.

My anti-virus is getting jumpy around this file.

In addition I keep getting this message whenever I ignore the anti-virus warnings. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

if your gamedata folder is write protected, you need to run - as every installer - with admin permission.

I did run it as an administrator and I still got the same message.

and you have admin permission on the pc? Is an older remaster version already installed?

Possibly, I went into the old version's setup, because it uninstalls itself if you do. Then I tried to go into the new version's set up, but I couldn't even get that far.

have you tried to use the new r3 version? it has little adjustments in the setup. Make sure you have write permission in the gamedirectory and run it as admin. To test you could just copy the setup file to the gamedata folder and run it there

Hi, I am currently facing some issues with BF3 Legacy Era mod after downloading this version, loading the game under this particular era always crashes to the desktop. All other eras work fine. Just kindly wondering if there are any suggestions on how to resolve this. Thanks!

Hi people, I have a big recommendation for you, if you install this mod and you notice that enemy ai is not spawning correctly or at all, it must be that you have the external ai hero script on your lvl_pc folder, if that's the case, delete it; don't worry, the remaster comes with it's own ai hero option.

thanks for that hint. yes remaster has rayman's AIHero script included. So no need for the standalone one.

There's a crashing problem with this mod. Whenever I try to restart a match of instant action. It reverts the saved changes in the remastered settings. Like buff effects, turns on reward weapons when I try to turn it off. Then after I restart mission again or quit. It crashes. Is there a way to fix this?

sounds like a bug that happens if you used the leaked version previous. THAT's why you shouldn't use unreleased versions!!

delete the settings file, start the game, do you changes and press ok to save them.

I am running into this problem with GC too, I tried deleting the settings file and reinstalling the mod but it still sends me to the main menu after completing a map in GC. Theres something going on with user_script_0.lvl thats causing it.

Are there other interface mods installed? Such as shaderpatch?
Do you have two versions of remaster installed? Check your gc and user scripts

No this was a fresh install, I uninstalled the game twice. I Tryed to get rid of the settings file in the saved games, but it did not work. Only thing that stop the crashing was when I removed the user script 0. But it took away the Huds and menus.

setting file is not removed by uninstalling the game. did you delete it manual or not?

Reply Good karma+1 vote

I manually did it. Fresh install no other mods. Turn off the cloud save in steam. Delete the remastered files in the saves folder. And the same thing still happens. No matter what I save in the remastered settings. It reverts the changes any time I restart the mission. And then if I quit the match after restarting it. It would just crash Regards even if I got rid the old remastered savefile or not.

ok, delete the settings file, once more, start the game, close the game. There still should be no settings file. start the game again, play some matches, and test if it works. then go to the settings page, do some changes, press Ok to save them. Close the game. There should be a settings file now. start the game, go to the settingspage and check if the changes you did still appear there. And then test playing a match. Let me know on what stage it stops working

Hmmm, I know this is a small gripe, but it seems that the font size for this latest patch is even smaller. Is there a way to increase it? I know for the instant action settings you don't want them too large to prevent not seeing modes or eras, but the general map names kinda require squinting if you are playing on a laptop.

[GT]Anakin Author
[GT]Anakin - - 1,033 comments

the fonts are the same size as before. Problem with bigger size is you need to resize all elements one by one. (Text, hover area, klick area, highlight area, boarders, offsets,... and that's only for the scrolling part. So you need to adjust the number of elements in the list,...)
and you need to do it for each resolution

Is there a way one can do it manually?
And one other thing I seemed to have noticed. Before I installed this latest version, I noticed that the 1.3 patch allowed higher numbers for hunt, assault, and others. When I installed this, I seemed to have lost that capability.
And once again, thank you for this phenomenal project. The sound fixes and gameplay settings make the game so much better.

are you sure it was 1.3 that allowed the higher numbers and not an other mod?

Reply Good karma+1 vote

I'm fairly certain after installing 1.3 I could change game sliders to higher numbers. I can do a fresh install of BF2 to double check if need be.

I can indeed verify upon fresh installation of BF2 and 1.3 that those numbers do increase upon 1.3 installation. When installing your remaster on top, the capability goes away.

I deleted the old setting file again like u said. Then quit back to game. Saved the new settings. And it still reverts the saved changes when restarting the mission. And when I quit after restarting. It doesn't go back to main menu. It crashes to desktop again. It isn't corrupted save data. Theres a bug in the user script 0.

Hey Anakin, glad to see a new update to this mod.

I think that the HD HUD really needs to be updated by the mod's author or completely removed from the Remastered mod for the time being. I personally find the larger HUD elements to be incredibly distracting (minus the minimap, kill-log, and reticle) at 1080p. Also, I think the GameSpy MP workaround needs more prominent visibility, as I was personally confused while writing up this comment until I saw the linked article in the file's ModDB description. I think it should be explained in the description or the readme file, if not both.

Some possible features I'd like to see going forward are: 1) the addition of an FOV slider to the Options menu for permanent FOV changes, as using FakeConsole is cumbersome and it doesn't remember FOV changes after a match ends and/or you close the game; 2) either the incorporation of Michaelswbf2's Unlocked FPS Mod Moddb.com or the possible addition of something like it; 3) either the incorporation of Michaelswbf2's Ping Refresh and Exit Button mod Moddb.com or the possible addition of something like it.

With all that said, great work as per usual, anakin. Here's hoping your script loader enables some great ideas going forward, and I hope you'll consider some of my suggestions!

You can "disable" the FullHD HUD, by duplicate the stockHUD.lvl file and replace stockHUDHD.lvl with that copy.
Yeah the MP needs to be optimize but i have 2 major Problems with that:
1) i don't have the steam/gog edition
2) the debugger exe does not have the steam/gog exe changes and does not support mp. So no debugging.
That's why i try to avoid MP changes. Further mods to include are always welcome, but you can also request that to the original dev. Since i support custom scripts and options they able to add it by their own.

About the description/readme, from my experience nobody reads the readme/description, so i don't think it makes a big difference where it is explained.
