Like many of you, I absolutely LOVE the game. But at times, especially later in the game, it seems way too easy. I have installed mods like the Hard Mode and Romero Mod, and while they definitely improve things, I wanted to overhaul things to my personal tastes.
I started working on a mod that would increase difficulty. Not only in terms of zombies, but also increasing costs of valuable items, making ammo rare, etc. This is my vision for a zombie apocalypse. I gave the mod to some of my buddies and they loved it, so I thought others might as well. Below you can see a list of current changes I have made. I kept track of even minor things. In the future, many more things will be changed. I am still testing and trying to find a good balance of current settings, which is why I am releasing this now. With Christmas coming up and stuff I won't have much time to play. So love it or hate it, please give me any feedback so I can incorporate it into the mod.

Current changes:
Gameplay:
- Uses mod to remove blips from the radar. Now you actually have to
pay attention! (Awaiting permission from member who released this before it is added in my package)
- Removed effects when you are on the ground getting beat, so you can see it in
all it's gorey detail!
Player:
- Reduced effectiveness of meds.
- Greatly increased cool down on using meds. You cannot spam them anymore.
- Sprinting stamina while not encumbered is reduced so you can run longer.
- Spring stamina while encumbered is greatly increased.
- Greatly increased stamina cost for focusing with firearms.
- Stamina cost in combat is increased.
- Increased max explosion damage to player
- Adjusted fall height damage. You can potentially take less fall damage from
shorter heights, simulating better landings.
Zombies:
- Reworked zombie spawns in all areas. There will be many more zombies in
the cities, and fewer in rural areas.
- While zombies are more plentiful, it will take longer for zombie respawn to fill
density. This simulates clearing areas out.
- Infestations are larger and occur more often.
- Zombies are typically the slow variety now. Fast zombies are much more rare.
- Increased zombie damage. Don't try fighting more than 2 or 3 at once now!
- If you are bitten by zombies, you may become infected. If infected,
you will need to rest at your home base. Survivors will have a chance to overcome
infection everyday. Survivors may eventually start the Mercy Shot mission if they
are not cured. *Note that infection will only occur when you are gravely injured, so
be careful out there! I am looking into adding a rare item that can cure infection. More
on this soon.
- Increased bloater toxic effects.
Firearms:
- Increased sound radius of all firearms. Higher caliber weapons cause more
noise. Will not draw the attention of the entire city, but definitely a noticeable
difference.
- Though noise is increased, zombies are dumb. If you fire a weapon, it will take longer
for zombies to realize where the sound came from. Repeat firing will make it easier
for zombies to find you.
Molotovs:
- Molotovs burn much longer so you can create barriers for escape or other utility
Vehicles:
- Greatly increased the amount of damage done to vehicles when running zombies
over. Some freaks such as Juggernauts can easily total your car completely.
Items:
- Adjusted weight on all ammo. Generally weight was increased.
- Made all ammo rare. Lower caliber ammo is a bit easier to find.
- Increased influence requirements on all suppressors.
- Increased influence requirements on most meds.
- Decreased uses on all suppressors. Example: Machined Suppressor has 25 uses now.
- Decreased amount of grenade launcher ammo you can stack from 30 to 5.
Flashlight:
- Increased flashlight radius and made it light up more of an area.
- Now creates a small amount of noise when turning on. Creates less
when turning off. This is to simulate zombies noticing light as well. This will likely only
be noticed inside buildings.
does it work with breakdown? and if not can you make it breakdown compatible?
I ran it the other day on Breakdown and it crashed. I haven't had a chance to fix it yet. I will make it compatible when I can for sure.
