You are right, FekLeyrTarg. All utilities you mentioned are taken from the Secrets of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

I can't seem to get roguedat to work.... I was having a look at it and i wanted t extract the x-wing and other fighter skins, but it would not work. all i could see was the file names, no preview or any thing else but files. is there a set of buttons you have to press? like Ctrl Shift somthing? i ended up pressing every button on my keyboard and every combanation of buttons i could think of, but nothing happend apart from getting one of those windows 98 bleeps to say i could not do that. also if it does work is there any way of placing the files back into the bundles? so that you can edit them by doing up graphics and making fixes.....

Airborne, this is the point. RogueDat gives you chance to see the structure of data files and extract the resources as files. That is it. Only some resources are in a common format like JPGs for level images or TGAs for interface elements. All other resources have their own custom format - models, textures, sounds. I did some work for decoding these, but it is hard to do it, especially if you are a team of one :-)

Textures were easier - these are standard bitmaps, so it must be easy to convert them to BMPs. Music files - I found a clue to them also, these are like MIDI sequences. I even wrote a small application for converting them to MID files.

All others wait for us to figure out their structure and to write application for their visualisation or alteration.

Ah, back in 2002 I thought this is obvious, so sorry for it being so not user-friendly. Actually you need to locate Data.dat file. To make it visible you actually need to select *.dat filter in file open dialogue. Then you can see that File>Save As is on whenever you select file(s) from the right window. Hope all these make sense.
