Major update of RotE. This new version adds many fixes and a revamped UI, better campaign resources, regimental names, font, unit cards and balance changes.
Full version of RotE uploaded on ModDB. This new version adds many fixes and a revamped UI, better campaign resources, regimental names, font, unit cards and balance changes.
This version of Rise of the Eagles comes bundled with two extra tools
HotseatTool from the M2TW Engine Overhaul Project made and maintained by youneuoy;
You can find it and follow it here Twcenter.net
GEM by LuciferHawk;
Final release at Twcenter.net(Version-2-2)
Special thanks to Bubbleezzz for making the unit info cards and finding a couple of bugs with the units.
HOW TO USE:
HotseatTool is required to view the regimental numbers and names correctly. In order for you to do this, you must start the game via RotE.exe, NOT the .bat file. It may occur that some errors might pop up once in a while. This is because this version of the HotseatTool is a bit old. I chose to use it as it is the simplest for what I need it to do, and it doesnt require any more steps from the end user. In the future I may use a newer version maybe even custom made. We shall see.
In any event, do not worry about the errors and if the game exits just start it back again. It may occur during the very first loading screen or throughout menus, but it is very rare.

Revised UI
Nothing to add here. You didnt like the UI so I've been making new cards. All playable factions have the new cards ready, the non playable factions still lack those. I'll be working a little slower on them due to time constraints. I've decided to prioritize the factions that you'll actually be using in the main campaign.
Campaign:
- RotE now has regimental numbers and region of recruitment just like ETW and NTW
- Fixed a plethora of small issues with campaign features
- Better positioning of some key cities
- Completely revised "Horse" resource positions so that factions can actually recruit horses in central Europe
- Fixed pricing of some goods and distribution of certain resources (grain, wine, textiles etc)
Battle:
- Fixed horse death animation bug
- Fixed a bug with Prussian Hussars' texture
- Fixed several issues with multiple cavalry units
- Changed some 3d models to fit with their proper unit
- Better smoke particles, new fire bursts from musketfire
Autoresolve:
Cavalry units now are counted into the equation while calculating autoresolve points. This was a fortunate discovery as some leftovers from Rome TW still exist in the engine and those can be exploited to do what I need.
I have assigned specific points based on cavalry weight class, as follows:
Light Cavalry \ Lancers (except Polish) = +1
Dragoons and Polish Lancers = +2
Cuirassiers \ Guard Cavalry = +3
This will hopefully resolve any major dispute over autoresolved battles.
Do I need to download other versions too?
No just this one
Greetings, how can I recruit these units once on a campaign with France:"French Lancers", "Oldenburg Line Infantry", "Irish Legion", "Swiss Fusiliers" and others? Can France recruit Polish Lancers and other "mercenary" units in this newer version? Thanks.
P.S: There is a mod for Rome Total War (the first one) called Napoleon Total War. France unit roster in that mod is very complete although other things are lacking, such as the non-existence of missile cavalry. Anyway, you should take a look into that mod. Congratulations on your enterprise and effort so far. Cheers.
Thank you for the kind words. That mod is called Napleonic Total War 2 by the way. It is "complete" because it uses assets imported from another game called Imperial Glory. My units are original, made from scratch from a single model. I take much more pride in my work than that.
Anyway, Oldenburg Fusiliers can be recruited in Oldenburg, Irish Legion in Ireland, no Polish units for mercenary service at the moment. Swiss Fusiliers will be added to the pool of mercenary units later on.
can this play without steam ?? :)
No
Yes, you can play it without steam. I have the disc version and am playing it! You have to modify the bat-file to work on kingdoms.exe.
HotSeatTool's exe as far as I'm aware doesnt support the CD version, which means that you will miss features such as regimental names and more in the future
what's HotseatTool's exe? and i have a question you're only Europe Right no america?
If you read the instructions you will know what Hotseattool is.
No america, no.
Thanks for this amazing mod. It really is above any expectation I could have for a 10+ year old game. Great work!
thanks very much
but i have question
how to play poland in campaign?
At the moment you cant. Poland is a horde faction so not designed with a capital. I would need to make a separate campaign just for that.
thank you for the reply.
You can play a great mode
Thank you very much.
I will pray for you.

The file RotE.exe has virus?
no?
Is there any way you can improve the ai in this mod? Cos the ai is really dumb, they will charge through when my troops are opening fire, and then they rout. I really love this mod but because of how dumb the ai soldiers are it kinda kill the experience
Believe it or not this AI is very much improved from base MTW2.
I'm working on a solution to at least dont make them rout instantly

When I launch this mod via exe, I get "fatal graphics error", despite all other mods - and I have many - work absolutely fine. What can be the cause?

You got to fix this mod lol, coz it is nearly impossible for player to lose against ai in battles. I tried putting five weaker troops as french against 5 stronger british troops like BRITISH FOOT and GUARDS and i still win. I tried to switch by putting 5 British troops FENCIBLES(player) and 5 stronger french troops and i still win lol. If the AI cannot win in battles then this mod is unplayable.
Please provide battle map name, difficulty setting, and number of men in a unit - aka how large the troop size is.
To clarify: the .exe file is intended to bypass some limits of the engine such as: "Legio" instead of "Regiment" as text string; bigger battle maps, which have the same size as city assaults. The .bat file is still needed as it is being read by the .exe.
Nice mod. The units handle well and the shooting mechanics are pretty good. However, pathfinding and the AI in singleplayer are flawed. Is there any interest a multiplayer community?
Of course. I'm working on the SP aspect for now but I absolutely want to get the ball rolling on MP. Hotseats and custom battles. Once things are a bit more polished.
I go to run the exe and it just doesn't run and dissapears. There are no instructions on where to put files or find anythin?
Ever installed a mod for MTW2 before? You have to put the folder inside MTW2's main path at ..steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods. Then you can run the exe (if you have the Steam version of the game) otherwise you will have to run the .bat file but do be warned that I dont support the old CD version so if it crashes I cant do anything about it.
Whenever I download this it just says the rar file is corrupted?
I just downloaded it myself to check. There is no problem at all.
Hi, when I launch the exe file, the game crash. Do you have a solution ?
Steam version or CD version? I dont support the CD version
This is steam version
Interesting. is it happening every time? try the .bat file instead.

I can't seem to get it to work. I installed to the mods folder, ran the .exe, nothing happened. I tried the .bat, and it said that it wouldn't work. I have the steam edition, so I don't know what's wrong. Am I missing something?
Please tell me what it said in the log. "said that it wouldn't work" is a bit vague. There should be a "logs" folder, see what "RotE.system.log" says in the last line
RotE.system.log doesn't appear in the files to me. I also tried the .bat again after restarting, it just starts the game with no mod at all.
Are you sure that you have the Steam version of the game? Try changing the .bat file with this:
"@echo off
cd ..\..
start kingdoms.exe @mods\RotE\Configuration.cfg"
see if it works
It says "cannot find kingdoms.exe"
Oh dear... change kingdoms.exe with medieval2.exe lets try this one

medieval2.exe also does nothing, as it says it cannot be found
scratch that. i got it working, but it crashes every time a battle begins.
This is so weird... I really cant understand why this happens. I'm guessing you're not playing on an integrated videocard? You know, an old laptop? I simply cant reproduce your issue
