I also have that problem, do you know how to fix it?
Mod crashes at the beginning. Patch installed. "Upcoming" beta of the Source SDK Base 2013 installed. Files integrity verified.
Hello malortie, I'm glad to see this good HL2 EP2 project. So I decide to get your permission for adding your mod in GMOD Workshop. You'll help people on workshop.
Best wishes, M

I've just finished the mod for the second time to test the patch. I didn't have any bugs or errors during the gameplay. The patch works flawlessly.
Thank you for your interest!
@ubilada
Thank you for the report.
Yes!
I restalled the mod and then added the patch. This time the picture showed the light house and with the music but after that the game exited out. It never showed me any errors. I do have SDK 2013 install but maybe it does that cause I'm a steam beta participant
@exhypercube
Make sure you are using the 'Upcoming' beta of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
You should also verify the integrity of your game's files. This might be the cause
of your crashes, as you have invalid/corrupt game files.
You can perform this check by doing the following:
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Local Files" tab.
- Click "Verify Integrity of Tool cache..."
- Wait until game cache inspection is completed.

I am enjoying this mod SO SO SO much!!! :)
After an hour of playing only, I must say this is among the best HL2 mods I have played. Beautiful, well thought out, down to every detail. This could have come from Valve himself.
I am a bit stuck now :(

@drpeppercan
You should have a look at this playthrough.
Thank you so much malortie :)
I can finally move on!

hi,
i just installed the mod in full but i am getting a message that background image can not be loaded,running this patch will solve that?
@g-vitman
To answer your question:
Yes. Installing the patch will solve the missing background issue.
Be sure to read all instructions in readme_fix.txt, which is inside the patch archive.
oke, before i do, i need to install steam's SDK as well?
@g-vitman
You only require to have Half-Life 2, along with it's episodes, installed, and the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
hi,
i did as you said but no luck for me, elements 120 does work do and it is fantastic :)
so, what could be the problem with mission improbable?
i have Half-Life 2, along with it's episodes, installed, and the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer but still the background issue when starting up.... :(
@g-vitman
Have you set your beta participation to 'upcoming'? These patches require you to be enrolled in the beta.
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Betas" tab.
- Change "Select the beta you would opt into" option to "upcoming"
- Restart Steam.
hi thanks for the reply,
but it is not working i did everything you told me to do but no luck for me here...
what can i do now?
i installed the new patch, Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer in set on upcoming but i still get the error message "can't find background image materials/console/startup_loading.vtf
:(
oooow never mind my previous message, i have him running now :) thanks for the help :)

I need help with the game. two things:
--------------------------------------------
1. I'm getting the Launcher DLL issue and I can't get around it.
2. Is there any way to uninstall? I don't want it on my Library forever.
--------------------------------------------
Thanks!
To answer your questions:
--------------------------------------------
1. DLL error:
--------------------------------------------
a) Have you correctly put the mod folder 'missionimprobable' to your
'sourcemods' folder ?
b) Are you enrolled in the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer beta?
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Betas" tab.
- Change "Select the beta you would opt into" option to "incoming"
- Restart Steam.
c) Have you verified your game cache?
- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Local Files" tab.
- Click "Verify Integrity of Tool cache..."
- Wait until game cache inspection is completed.
I recommend that you perform game cache on every Source game required for this mod - Half-Life 2, along with Episode One and Two.
--------------------------------------------
2. How to uninstall:
--------------------------------------------
- Remove 'missionimprobable' folder from the 'sourcemods' folder.
- Restart Steam.
Hey, I'm getting a virus detection warning when trying to download this patch. Apparently a Trojan. What gives?
This is mostly a false positive.
You will need to add this downloaded file to the list of exclusion.
I can assure you that I would never upload malicious data onto this website. In addition to this, files are being monitored by moderators/administrators before allowing the download to be available.
Absolutely well aware of that and I certainly didn't mean to suggest such a thing - I meant the question in the sense of what can I do to prevent it from happening, as I had imagined it's a false positive.
Thanks, I'll add it to the exclusion list.
I got the virus warnings as well, I had to download it in Firefox and then unblock it, Chrome wouldn't let me at it at all.
2017 players note: Even though the SDK is 2013 you do still have to opt into the beta version of it for this to work, otherwise it showed part of the into logo and the crashed for me.
So far I am really impressed with the level design!

Hi,
Do you think you can share with me how I opt in please?
Many thanks

DOES NOT WORK IT SAYS I NEED TO UPDATE 2013 SINGLE PLAYER THINGY AND THERES NOT UPDATE HELP
felixrocket7835
I am afraid I am not entirely sure to understand what you mean.
Please, could you elaborate when you say there are no updates?
Whenever I run the installer it finishes, but the mod doesn't show up in the sourcemods folder. I'm using Windows 10 and I have the required versions of SDK installed.
Is there a way you could give me the actual mod file with everything in it or put it up for download.
Very sorry so late....
The only thing is and this happens on other mods
Could not find libary client with all the games hl2episode 1 and 2 and half life 2 with there files all good not corrupted is there a fix?

I did the whole process exactly as instructed in method 1 and yes I put the SDK in Upcoming but I for some reason am getting a Half Life 2 Episode 2 background with missing textures. Got any idea of what the issue could be?
GamerStar111
My apologies, for the delay.
I tested the mod with the patch applied to it and it works.
In addition, I tested the mod without the patch, and the same issue as you explained occurs. The cause of the problem is probably because the files included in the patch do not overwrite the original mod files with the required ones.
After applying the patch, you should have a folder 'bin' at the root folder of the mod. In this root folder, you should see several other folders such as 'cfg', 'materials', 'maps'.
I recommend that you copy the folder 'missionimprobable' found in the patch archive in your 'sourcemods' folder. Once this is done, restart Steam and launch the mod. If this solution does not work, please let me know.

so I followed the instructions of the readme text but it still gives missing background error. I have the source SDK 2013 singleplayer set to upcoming beta installed too, but I still get the same error message. any ideas?
