This mod should work for B&W2;, any patches, including Fan Patch 1.4 and B&W2; redux mod, as well as Battle of the Gods. But do report everything.
This is not the first "switch japanese and greeks" mod but it is much more elaborate and complete than any other, also better bugfixes.
NIMOSTAR'S B&W2 JAPANESE MOD
NOTES
This was tested with Black and White 2 Redux 1.8 installed.
However, in theory should be compatible with any game version (Including maybe, probably, Battle of the Gods, IDK. Make a backup and try.)
This is the most complete, balanced B&W2 Japanese faction mod to date. Others will follow (Aztecs with and without undead armies, maybe Norse or Egyptian, IDK either. Most certain is Aztec.)
Do not play this with minimum model detail specs, I cannot assure the models are correct then.
TESTED:
I tested just from the first few lands. However other than minor graphical glitches in some places I woudn't expect anything to be wrong. Do tell me anything, tho.
INSTALL
Make a backup if you wish.
Place the contents inside "Nimos_B&W2_Japan" in your game folder and overwrite everything.
If you want the savegame, it needs to be in your user profile, search (this savegame has skyscrapers bugged, OK as long as you don't hover; this doesn't happen if you start yourself)

- You play the campaign as Japanese instead of Greek.
- Japanese enemies are Greek instead.
- Villager models switched
- Western villager names replaced by japanese ones (written in latin alphabet) both for male and female villagers.
- Some japanese themed load screens added.
- Soldier models replaced
- Swords and shields replaced
- Squad flags replaced (may not be complete with siege troopers and catapult)
- Most buildings replaced

- Hovel is a ruined manor house. Slightly more expensive than regular hovel, but also gives more population. Unconnected with roads.
- Your Japanese Buildings take less ore than other factions, but more Wood.
- Rebalanced Japanese mansion, since it is much bigger than Greek counterpart and space is at a premium. Gives more population.
- Japanese old people's home is a ruined mansion.
- Old people's home are now cheaper, evil instead of good. Just like in real life.
- Refining has now much higher output so it's actually worth it and a viable way to have renewable resources.
The buildings no longer increase the influence ring.
See the balance file, most buildings do not auto-increase influence much, you need to augment population instead (build houses)

I intended too, sadly Norse has too few models, so its harder than Japanese and Aztecs (which also don't have enough models but are closer).
