This mod aims to recreate the world of the undead as envisioned by the father of zombie movies, George Romero. The Romero zombies are the classic slow shambling zombies who only want to eat your flesh. They are very persistent and the only way to kill them is by destroying the brain or causing severe damage to the head. The living dead series by George Romero is known for the atmosphere of dread, where even though zombies are slow and weak, they eventually catch up to the humans who end up going against each other due to their personal desires.

I. Introduction:
This mod aims to recreate the world of the undead as envisioned by the father of zombie movies, George Romero. The Romero zombies are the classic slow shambling zombies who only want to eat your flesh. They are very persistent and the only way to kill them is by destroying the brain or causing severe damage to the head. The living dead series by George Romero is known for the atmosphere of dread, where even though zombies are slow and weak, they eventually catch up to the humans who end up going against each other due to their personal desires.
II. Installation:
* You must have a program called WinRAR or WinZIP to extract ZIP and RAR files. *
* As much as possible, please try to use only one mod at a time. Mods that affect the same files will overwrite each other and may cause undesirable effects. *
* It is always recommended to make a back-up of any files that any mod can replace. *
Contents of GeorgeRomeroModSODTEST03.rar:
- levels folder
- libs folder
- scripts folder
- DisableZombieCollisionDamage.rar
- EnableZombieCollisionDamage.rar
- ReadMe.txt file
1. Copy GeorgeRomeroModSODTEST03.rar to your State of Decay\Game folder.
2. Right Click on GeorgeRomeroModSODTEST03.rar and choose "Extract Here".
3. You will see the following folders in your Game folder:
- levels
- libs
- scripts
4. You will see the following .rar files in your Game folder.
- DisableZombieCollisionDamage.rar
- EnableZombieCollisionDamage.rar
5. Now it is time for you to decide on how you want to experience State of Decay!
How to Enable or Disable Vehicle Zombie Collision:
1. After extracting the GeorgeRomeroModSODTEST03.rar file in your Game folder, you'll see two rar files: DisableZombieCollisionDamage.rar and EnableZombieCollisionDamage.rar.
2. Choose whether or not you want your vehicle to sustain damage after running over zombies.
ex. You don't want your vehicle to take damage after running over zombies, so right click on DisableZombieCollisionDamage.rar and choose "Extract Here".
3. That's it, the necessary files will be extracted where they should go!
4. Play the game!
* To Uninstall, simply delete these files (or folders if you don't have other mods):

III. Current Features:
1. Slow Romero Zombies - zombies seem to be slower now, but there are still the random fast zombie who shows up for some reason. Zombies who are part of a horde (indicated by a horde icon) will always be faster than the average slow zombie. There are still the occasional special type of zombies around, hopefully I'll discover how to finally get rid of them.
2. Vehicles: Enable/Disable Zombie Collision Damage - if enabled, when running over zombies with a vehicle, it should not take damage. The vehicle will only take damage when you let the zombie hang on to your vehicle (because they'll keep hitting it or ripping it apart). Of course, the vehicle will also get damaged if you bump into walls, rocks, and other vehicles.
3. Increased Zombie Population - I've noticed an increase in zombie spawns in the game after modifying a few other files, especially in Marshall. In the original unmodded game, most zombies usually appeared alone or in groups of 2 or 3. Now, even "normal" spawns can have 5 or more zombies and they wouldn't be represented by a "horde" icon on the map.
IV. Troubleshooting
Q1: The mod is not working the way it's supposed to!
A1:
- Please make sure you are only using one mod at a time. Using multiple mods at once may cause files to overwrite each other, causing strange effects.
- The game continues to change since it's just in Early Access. This means that mods may or may not work during different versions of the game.
V. Thanks:
Thanks to atxoxx and DeeJay for finding out about the zombie population properties and giving the idea to use a hex editor for BMD files! Thanks also to the people who remembered me for my George Romero mod for Dead Island and Riptide!
Chilled bananas! Thanks. Keep up the good work =)
Thanks :D
