Description

This is a minor adjustment to the vanilla Empire Total War game that allows for a nice playable experience for the Pirates faction.

Hey Arnorian, does your mod *also* add the ability to do diplomacy for them aswell?

I don't think pirates are suppose to make diplomacy, after all they're just pirates, they raid and that's it.

marukai215 To me; that's personally stupid, they *should* have the option for diplomacy. not only from a gameplay perspective here but also historically.

For gameplay: It completely prevents trade income, making trade buildings worthless. (making effectively no money) You can't declare war on them independently, you have to wait till *they* declare war on you (if you accidently click accept on a offer to peace request spam from the ai, you cannot cross their land anymore; Especially annoying if it was from a country in the new world)

Historically-speaking; Pirates would smuggle goods from america to europe, extort for protection along trade routes (or the new world colonies), sometimes bribed/cut deals with corrupt government officials to be left alone for awhile (They could even get protection *legally* here; from privateering by getting letters of Marque) and etc.

I'll look into it. If I find how to fix it, I'll update file.

Thanks,

No. I've tried finding where this mechanic is on the files, but to little avail. The AI factions will eventually start offering you peace as you get stronger however.

In Europe it does not allow you to recruit line infantry or other units. Only cannons and some light. Could it be solved? I don't know if my old comment was published, that's why I'm doing it again. Sorry for the inconvenience

Interesting. It might be because I gave them mostly new-world units. I was able to recruit infantry in North Africa interestingly. I'll check it out.

Yes, but if it is possible that line infantry can be added to them throughout Europe, that would be great! and if in the indies it would also be very good, so that it is one more faction

Hi, I've added the files into the correct place and it loads the game and when the campaign loads it does not let you see or select any units or buildings. I have deleted the appdata file and reinstalled the game without avail

Hello Arnorian,
installed the mod and I like the start of it, playing hardest difficulty, using my usual naval tactics of chain shot and lot's of patience, I took a 7 ship Dutch fleet in the indies with one Xebec...
However regarding the land units roster, I miss the buccaneers carrying pistols with small range and then melee, like the buccaneers from AUM.
The militia and line infantry I guess is easier to "port" from vanilla models, but is not as immersive as having them look same as the buccaneers but as a line regiment, or even better a skirmish regiment, since they wouldn't have the training. Anyway I'm giving it a go see how it plays, I don't want to conquer the world [so no need grenadiers or powerful units] just some pirate "thugs" to defend our islands haha cheers!
