Demo Version includes a working campaign, but custom battles are not ADVISED in this current format.
PLEASE READ ME!
This version is not fully complete in terms of the potential of the campaign and battles etc. But it has a playable campaign of which most of the main body is there. Some campaign script features such as raiding and character spawns are included. Ancillaries for Faction Leader Titles are also included, these can be taken by killing the current owner of the title in battle or sitting in the capital settlement of the over-kingdom. New Traits and Buildings are in this as well allowing for the campaign experience to be enjoyable!
IMPORTANT: I have experienced no major crashes yet (fingers crossed none crop up). There is one UI error where three factions' symbols use a generic logo on the campaign due to the UI directory being wrong. I aim to fix this in the next version when I have learned how to correct it properly.
I have released this version now as I want you to play it and get a real feel of what this mod is. A lot of mods with Ireland in for me haven't been as expansive as they could have been and I feel it is important to allow people to learn more about this really interesting history and part of the world. If any issues do crop up, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix it and release patches to solve it. Constructive and helpful feedback would be great, and most of all enjoy it for what it is! I have worked for six months now on this, nearly every night and it has took a lot of effort and time. I do intend to make a full version after the release of the demo - this may take a while as I am doing other projects and work at the moment, and hopefully getting more modding experience so I can improve upon this as well.
Installation:
It is a rar file, so extract it using Winrar.
Once extracted, dump the folder labelled 'Japan' into your Medieval 2 Total War/mods directory and launch it using the Executable.bat button.
I appreciate all the comments so far and thank you so much for the support! Enjoy! :)
Congratz with release of demo!
Thank you very much! Hope you enjoy!
Looking forward to playing this, amazing as a West Limerick man that i can play as the Uí Fidgenti :)
Thank you! And very good! Ireland deserves to have more attention brought to it with its rich history, I hope you enjoy it!
Also interestingly enough, I wasn't going to have the Uí Fidgenti due to a restraint on factions, but I found out how to make new factions later on so I added them in as well as the Eóganacht Glendmamnach below them. Munster by far has the largest faction range, I think there's about 8 factions in total here. So good luck taking Cashel! :)
Man, me and my brother have been amped since we saw this. I cannot wait to play this mod. It'd be great to roleplay my ancestor's history!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it!
Why is the file called Japan?
Because the Gigantus File which I edited was a map of Japan. I used it as a template.
Hey, I have been having problems getting the mod to work, it will either crash after the first splash screen or (more rarely) give an error report that Medieval II has crashed unexpectedly. I know that the Steam version has a bit of reputation for not wanting to play nice with mods, particularly those that require the kingdoms.exe, so I was wondering if anyone had any solutions to that? It looks like a great time, and I can't wait to be able to play it myself!
Have you got the kingdoms.exe in the medieval 2 folder?
I used the trick of copying and renaming the medieval2.exe, which I know works with other mods. I am notoriously bad at tech, so I'm sure somewhere among the install instructions I messed up though haha
I managed to get it to work! The first time I installed must have messed up somehow, I ended up just deleting all the files and starting over from scratch, and it suddenly started to behave itself properly. So far it's been very fun, I can't wait to see the finished release!
Thank you! Enjoy!
It says custom battles are not recommended. Does that mean you must autoresolve battles in campaign? Is there no custom units?
You can fight battles on the campaign map, I just haven't really worked on the custom battle side of it. But by all means try and use the custom battles section, I'm just not entirely sure if it works fully or not.
But all the custom units are done.
Simply brilliant.
An fhear, maith thú tá sé sin go híontach, downloadóidh mé anois é Uí Máine abú!
Go raibh maith agat!
Is this still being worked on? Please tell me so!
Yes, sorry I've been busy for the past year, so I've just seen this, but I have been adding more factions and other elements etc.
