NOTICE: This mod is designed to run with the Windows version of Half-Life currently available on Steam. Running different versions of Half-Life, such as the Mac release, the original CD, or Xash3D, may not work. Same goes for any mods meant to alter Half-Life's gameplay, such as Brutal Half-Life, Bunny Mod XT, or things of that nature. Please do not ask for compatibility fixes, they will not be made, at least not in the near future. Future requests will be pruned.

Yay!!! A demoo!
OMG
Oh yeah!
just played it
all i have to say this the best version of decay i have ever played !
Thank you very much for this, i will just wait for full version
Haven't played yet, but just downloaded. It'll be awesome to be able to play this single-player without having to switch back and forth.
Also, you've gained a new follower
Here we go boi!
Let's go!
Genial, nunca pude terminar por Completo el Decay (por el simple hecho de qué no tenía con quién jugar y se me hacía molesto tener que controlar a los 2 personajes xd) Al menos gracias a este mod podré disfrutarlo con más comodidad :)
super cool!! B)
lets go guys
The only bad part was when it said "End Of Demo"
But on a serious note: Great demo I played! My only two problems with it are really just nitpicks. I thought there wasn't that many medkits lying around, since I ALWAYS play on hard, it was a little annoying to me. Also, for that fan puzzle, I would have liked to change the fan direction when I got to the other side. Other than that, greatest Decay experience I've ever heard.
Thank you Mr. Floyd and to the other developers!
I've just played it and it was awesome! I would love to see more!
Wow, nice demo. THIS is the best way to play Decay alone.
Great demo - good to properly play through the game solo. Looking forward to the full thing!
A few suggestions, if I may?
In the room with the electrified water, maybe add an option to turn the fans off completely? Since it was originally designed for two players, going through this solo is a real pain in the behind that could be solved if you're able to stop the fans altogether - otherwise you'll have to run & jump across the barriers while running INTO the wind at least once, and that's frustrating as heck. Alternatively, maybe add a couple more boxes to make the awkward jumps a bit easier?
When 'powering up' the lift, maybe delay the headcrabs from appearing until you've fully charged the meter? Having to constantly stop and turn round to deal with them is quite irritating. Another co-op puzzle not ideal solo.
Only real fixes I could came up with, beyond removing the headcrabs right behind doors that attack you the minute you open them, which was a **** move in the original and is a **** move here. :)
For turning the fans on and off, the way I see it, you should never introduce an extra moving part to a puzzle if it's not necessary, all it does is lead to confusion and frustration, because people will assume it's necessary to complete the puzzle.
And as far as the headcrabs go, that's how they were in Decay, and as the goal of this mod is to be as faithful to Decay as possible while polishing and adjusting maps for single player, I see no reason to change them.
This isn't just rad, it's hlrad.exe! Keep this up man!
I thought this update was GREAT! For the fan puzzle, I didn’t know I was supposed to do what you intended. Before, like most players I’ve seen, I just jumped on to the box and floated my way across. When I replayed the new update, I did the same thing and thought it was a glitch. So I put on God mode and sailed across. However, on my second playthrough, I tried thinking logically and assumed it was changed. How it is actually meant to be solved is way cooler and clever than what I originally thought. But there could still be some improvements here and there:
- At the end of Duel Access, I feel like Rosenberg should walk to the elevator instead of running since it doesn't feel natural. Or maybe it's just me because I'm so used to seeing it in the normal Half-life: Decay.
- For the low res-pack, I feel that the Gearbox Opfor/Blue Shift weapon animations should be in there. I don’t think anyone will stay awake at night because of this, but it would be nice.
- Turning off the turrets in the Hazardous Course seems pointless, there is nothing to go back to that I could find.
- Now my three suggestions are just that… suggestions. But here is an actual problem I found: at the end of the Hazardous Course, the area where you would escort the guard, has a glitch with the filing cabinet. The issue is that you can walk through the filing cabinet and see through some of THE WORLD.
But that is about everything I can think of. AN AMAZING UPDATE!
I appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad that, in the end, the update to the fan puzzle made the intended solution more clear. However to address your points...
- Rosenberg runs to the elevator to speed things up slightly. A common complaint I've seen in Blue Shift is how long the "cutscenes" take, so I've been cutting out needless dead air in dialogue and speeding up some of the animated sequences to help pick the pace up some.
- None of the weapon animations in Op4/BS's low-def pack use the HD animations, so I don't see the need to implement new animations in Solo Mission's LD pack.
- You're not entirely wrong about the turrets, the ability to turn them off is more of a carry over from the co-op version, where you turned it off for Player 2 to get across, and I saw no need to get rid of it.
That said, I'll look into fixing the file cabinet in the next update of the demo, thank you for your feedback!
I completed it just now, great work, I can't wait to play it in full! I always wanted to play decay but couldn't for obvious reasons…dream comes true!
i am so exited for this mod, i never had the oportunity to play decay i defenetly goin to enjoy this! great work!
Never played the OG Half-Life Decay but I am excited to check this out.
Just finished demo pretty great so far keep up the great work, hope to see more in the future.
Will you release the map source files when the mod is done?
The map sources, the source code, and any other relevant files will be made available after the full release.
Sweet!
I hope you can have success with this awesome project bro, my best wishes for this!
Looks very nice. Though, it looks like it's not compatible with Linux yet as Vortigaunts do not spawn and the player cannot proceed after the shooting range. I hope that will be fixed. Good luck and thank you!
I'm afraid that, for the time being, this mod is mainly for Windows. After the initial release however, I'm certainly welcome to the idea of making this mod available to other operating systems. After all, accessibility is a big part of this mod.
So, what's new with the V1.3 release?
The changelog is listed in the description.
Got it, thanks
can't wait to see the rest of it.
There's already an option in Half-Life Decay for the PC that allows you to complete it as a single player, & once selected you just have to press 'G' while in play to allow you switch between the 2 characters to be able to complete all tasks. I know as I played through Half-Life Decay on my own some years back.
I've also played it, it has several game-breaking bugs, and switching between both characters is, to put it bluntly, a pain in the ***, especially when dealing with large groups of enemies where you have to count on a completely immobile AI that's incapable of switching weapons to fend for itself. Just because it can technically be beaten with one player doesn't mean it's the best way to do so.
I have to say that I never experience any game-breaking bugs when I played through it, but I suppose it depends on an individuals PC system, as i've found over the years that some games may run correctly on one system but not another, even if the same OS is being used, as sometimes it can also come down to makes of hardware & hardware drivers at the end of the day. i.e you could have exactly the same model graphics card but by different makers & a game may run on one but not the other simply because of the cards components.
I also found the mod quite easy to achieve even with the switching between characters, but then I am an old master when it comes to PC gaming with over 30 years under my belt.
However, good luck with this anyway as it will be great to see what the new updated maps & models will look & play like.
this is decay just like normal but with 1 person not in co-op? if it is some puzzles need to be changed.
They have been, and you can see the changed puzzles for yourself in the demo.
