This is a hyper realism reshade that is meant to increase immersion by creating a more moody, realistic looking darkness while also maintaining reasonable visibility for game play. Keep in mind this was designed on a newer monitor with display HDR turned on. Individual brightness will vary. Lighting, shadows, picture clarity, and overall details have been enhanced with effects and balanced sharpening. Dark spots appear darker, representing your visibility meter more accurately. A few individual colors have been tweaked while mostly maintaining respect to the games original colors. All colors have been given more richness and vibrancy as well as the appearance of some hidden colors.
Install: Download Reshade and install it in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, then download and extract the zip file and place the Born In The Darkness.ini into your system folder. If necessary, manually change the reshade preset by opening the Reshade overlay in game.
Note: I recommend installing EAX Restoration (audio enhancements) First Person Mod, and SCCT Ai Enhanced Story Videos if you haven't already. Individual brightness settings may need to be adjusted if your monitor and game settings are different than mine in order to match. Tests on older monitors without HDR confirms a decrease in clarity. This reshade really shines best when the game is played in a dark room or at night time. This reshade came to be because I would often see a dark spot and think it would be dark enough to hide in safely, only to still be seen :) Darkness in the base game was masterfully done, so if anything this is just my attempt at appreciating an awesome game. Anyways thanks and have fun?!
