Our vacation is over and we’ve came back to work on campaign, but even during vacation we didn't sit around doing nothing. During past five weeks we’re participating in L4D2 Workshop beta test and we’re helping developers to catch a lot of nasty bugs. But now L4D2 Workshop is finally here! And along with it came out small update for our campaign, which is now available in Workshop! But you can still download v1.06 from here, it's compatible with Workshop version of campaign.

Campaign is still in development, so please be forgiving. Probably there are some issues and bugs in this version, but do not despair, all of them will be fixed in the future. You can help fix bugs faster, if you contact us and describe them in details!
Also you can suggest any of your ideas and improvement for campaign! We’ll implement the most useful and interesting ideas!
Campaign is available in two modes: coop and versus. Unfortunately “Marauder” mode is unavailable for now, because of the problems we have with it. This mode will be available in future releases.
Before you install, please make sure you have the Steam Client installed along with Left 4 Dead 2. Also make sure the game has been launched at least once through Steam.
Extract bts_l4d2.zip. Now, all you need to do is to copy the campaign (vpk file) here: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons\
For easy navigation and useful advices during the events we recommend turning on Game Instructor feature during the first few playthroughs.
To do that, go to Menu>Options>Multiplayer>Game Instructor and turn it on. Now Game Instructor is on (but you can turn it off anytime at the options).
We recommend you to turn off campaigns that cause conflicts (Menu>Extras>Add-ons).
Very rarely, during playing Back To School campaign, Left 4 Dead 2 could crash (usually because of memory problems). This can occur for the following reasons:

quick question is it really necessary to have it run with steam? Can't I just put it at left 4 dead 2 addons?
Okay, so I pasted it in the left 4 dead 2 folder (not in steam) and it appears to be running smoothly until it finishes loading the campaign where it crashes instantly. any suggestions?
@gablab
You have two options either you download this version (one 1.2gb vpk file) and put it in your addons folder or you download Workshop version (7 vpk files, about 200MB each).
If you'll download both versions, they will conflict with each other and you won't be able to play this campaign.
Thank you very much for the fast reply I'll download one of these 2 as soon as possible.
Also when you said to "download this version (one 1.2gb vpk file)" did you mean this back to school version? or were you actually referring to a different file? since this version is only 570 mb.
Zip archive is 570MB, but then you unzip it you'll get one 1.2GB vpk file.
ahh I see what you mean unfortunately that's what I already did and it crashes right after loading the campaign with no error pop ups. So I guess that leaves me with the workshop version. Call me curious but what is the workshop version anyways?
Quote from description:
"Conflict with "Better Blood Decals" and "Improved Blood Textures" add-ons. Conflict causes game crash. We’ll try to eliminate the cause of conflict in future."
I think you have one of this add-ons installed. Turn them off and our campaign will work fine.
I don't have any other add-ons installed this is the first one I downloaded. Maybe it's because my left 4 dead 2 is a non steam loader version? does this mod require steam to play? Or can work offline?
I can't guarantee anything, if you have non steam version.
