Old standalone version of Ashes that contains both episodes.
This stand alone version contains Episode 1 and 2, as well as the expansion. For your convenience it is bundled with GZDoom and Freedoom2.
To run:
1. Extract to a destination of your choice.
2. Use the provided .bat files to launch the episode you wish to play.

Wow this is so awesome. I feel very lucky to see this on release day here, almost! The mechanics, level design, music and overall touch is 100% passion and quality. After the tutorial I got through the first level and now NN so I can continue tomorrow in the darkness of the wastelands and get something done with that friggin' radio. 10/10

Most of Captain J's sounds are included as standard.

I'm playing episode 1, first time, and I am currently on "top dollar" map (or similar name, sorry), but it seems I have a problem: I collected fuel canisters, but the ammo for the jackhammer seems not to refuel, and I'll be out of it soon. Am I missing sumthing in this regard?
The canisters are not for the jackhammer. In Ep1 the only way to get more fuel for the hammer is to find another one.

Just finished my first run (ashes 2063, base campaign) and wanted to give my props to the devs for their work. Many words hads already been spent on this, what I can add is just that I loved the small details (the moving mannequines my favourite).
Only thing I can suggest, if it's still worked on, is this: the final boss fight could be really easy because of the wall covers (one breaks, but the other not, and that's the one that should be made breakable to get u uncovered and on the move).
And one thing I didn't get is that there is really a password to read in the final map, sumwhere, which surely I didn't find.
Thank you! I did think about making more of that area destructible (the engine could more than accommodate this) but some people had trouble with that fight. Also the password is implied to be the radio message itself but this could be made more clear. Happy you enjoyed it!

excellent audio/video composition; if the authors of this mod had been the developers of Fallout 3/NV/4 it would have been better!
best mod ive played ever for gzdoom. legit my GOTY 2021. best soundtrack, best atmosphere, best gunplay and gunfeel, pacing, afterglows level design too, horror, survival aspects, it has it all in an amazingly well balanced package. sounds too, my god the sounds, iconic. ost too. (except modified pump shotgun slap on the mag, which is WAY too loud).
actually a more gripping experience than metro exodus. when i reached site sigma, it felt otherworldy, like a legit end of the world, a proper doomsday. the sprite aesthetics are on point, movement too, its such a well rounded package!
started smoking a fat one, ended up binging it in a 3 day trance start to end. and again when sober. still daydreaming about it. the spire. sigma, biodome, the NPP, metro stations, dark tunnels, boss fights.... it felt like a true immersive adventure, last time i had something like that was kingdom come deliverance or deus ex. it sticks. you get nostalgic the moment you finished it.
my opinion: the best TC ever done.
i would pay money for a full steam/gog release to get these men into game development one day. i consider this, a legit game rather than just call it a mod. its quite the extensive amount of work.
