This is an Alpha. Expect a lot of unfinished stuff. The purpose of this alpha is just to start testing stuff online in a public server. The current playable maps are MAP01, MAP02, MAP03, MAP04, and MAP09.

Instructions:
You need Zandronum 3.1 or GZDoom to run this mod.
Just drag and drop the pk3 file over the executable.
It works with any version of Doom.
Known Bugs:
- A gorillion console message errors when loading the game. Probably doesn't works on Android GZDoom (didn't test yet).
- Helicopters have no tilting in Zandronum.
- Guns have wrong HUD icons. It will say wrong calibers for some guns but it's only a visual bug, the ammo types in fact are working fine.
- The new menu will be broken on GZDoom and will only work on Zandronum.
- Game is currently unplayable in Software mode. OpenGL or bust.
- Sometimes when enemy machinegunners go prone their hitboxes becomes harder to hit.
- Many minor visual glitches (trees not falling correctly, grass disappearing when being burnt with flamethrower, etc.)
It's really not necessary to report any bugs, because I'm probably aware of everything. Unless they only happen when playing online on Zandronum.

Gameplay tips:
This mod is VERY hard. New people are adviced to play on the first or second difficulty.
You need to open the control options to bind keys for using bandages, throwing grenades, etc.
You can only carry 4 weapons besides your knife and grenades: A sidearm (slot 1), a rifle (slot 2), a shotgun, sub-machinegun or grenade launcher (slot 3), and a heavy weapon, machinegun, rocket launcher, flamethrower (slot 4). On Slot 5 you can select the LAW (it's a portable weapon that is meant to be carried by everyone. On Slot 6 you can select the Binoculars, which can be used to call artillery barrages and napalm bombing runs.
To pick up new weapons of the same category, you need to drop your previous first. Don't forget to bind a key for it.
Eating food and drinking water regains health, and if you keep the bars above 70% you can get a slow health regeneration (like 1 hp every two seconds). The regeneration is accelerated if you are standing still and just resting.
FAQ:
- Can I aim down the sights?
No. At least for now, I don't plan to add aiming modes for every gun because I want to keep things as oldschool as possible.
- Will weapon jamming be included?
No. Same reason as above.
- Why I can't pick up new guns?
Because you are already carrying a weapon of the same category. Read the part about weapon limits again.
- Can it run in multiplayer?
Yes.
- Are competitive online modes planned?
Maybe. I don't want to spend time to focus on it right now. All guns would require a complete rebalance to work on multiplayer as well.
If you want to play an online pvp vietnam game just play Rising Storm 2 Vietnam instead.

- Can I make custom maps for it?
Yes. Open the pk3 with slade to extract the wad with the maps and check how the maps are done in Doom Builder. Load the whole pk3 as a resource before opening the map. I am never going to change the editor numbers of objects,
- Can I make metamods based on it?
Yes, but I would greatly recommend waiting until it's at least on beta stage. On the current stage, this mod has plenty of bugs and if you work on a meta-mod, all the current bugs will carry over to your mod and you will have to fix them manually later.
- Do you plan to make a campaign where you play as the vietnamese?
Yes.
- Why is it called VietDoom anyway?
The game is divided in 3 chapters, and demons from Doom will show up in the third act. I'm just focusing on regular combat now and adding the demons later.
- Are you going to add more weapons?
Quite unlikely. Every weapon added so far is unique, and I don't want to add redundant guns. For example, there is no reason to add a MP-40 because it's pretty much the same thing as a MAT-49. Not going to add a M2 Carbine because it would be a completely useless weapon when you have M-16s and M-14s instead.
- Why can't I just drink water from rivers?
Because Malaria isn't good for you.

Cool game, and it is fun to play until you realizes how anoying some stuff are. First of all, the bandages healing. It is anoying. Cause, i found myself healing through a freaking whole level, and everytime i ran out of bandages and bleed to the death, and i didn't had anything around to help me. And that is the problem with this mod, cause Doom is not that kind of game that need this kind of stuff like bandages healing and stuff like that, including those mechanics with food and water. Doom is about quick gameplay, and not about hiding and healing, like in other modern games. So i think that it is the reason why this feature doesn't work with Doom. So i think that you should stick with standart Doom's medkits and health system, instead of what you had right now. Second of all the enemies. They are heat seeking like in Duke Nukem. I can't almost hide from their shots, and they always find their way to get me. I wouldn't say anything, if it was hard difficulty level, but it wasn't. I played on very first difficulty level, and every enemy knows where i'am and what i'm going to do. And that leads us to a frist problem with bandages. Third of all, levels. They looks cool, but it is not obvious how i can finish the level. I mean, i defeated every single enemy on the first level, i got to the friendly camp, and i had no i dea how do i finish this level. I was running around like stupid, trying to find an exit to the next level. I even opened a map to see what's what, but it took me about 30 minutes to find out that the exit to the next level is in freaking tank, or whatever that thing is (i'm not military expert lol). And last thing that is anoying, is the weapons. Sure they are good but, in the second level i ended up shooting upwards without me doing anything. And thanks to that i died like 15 times on the second level, because i was shooting in the skies, despite the fact that i was aiming in to an enemies. So yeah, in conclusion, this game is fun to play at the start, but later it becomes anoying. So instead of feeling satisfaction, i was feeling frustration from this game, especially on the second level. And so, in my opinion, it is better to wait until a REAL release of this mod, where all serious bugs will be fixed, balance would have it's place and game would look better. Until then, i don't even wanna touch this mod.
What makes you think this mod is intended to be played like Doom?
The shooting up thing is entirely your fault.. it's a toggle in player settings in gzdoom and idk where it is in zandronum. The 'tank' thing is also you just being kind of dumb- i got it first try, its the only open truck so why wouldn't you jump in it?
And that is why it is called a Alpha version, so, just play next time not a Alpha version of a TC when you can't handle it. That said, this is a TC, and NOT Doom. So why do you keep going on about that it doesn't play like Doom. It's like saying that a horse doesn't walk like a bird, OFCOURSE IT DOESN'T !!!

The gameplay is just like what a alpha release would look like but the idea is good. I will be waiting for later alpha/beta releases and hopefully the bugs will be fixed. Keep up the good work. Rip n tear em commies
So, i basically played it so far with Zandronum and this is the bugs i have noticed so far... Although im literally aiming and shooting the enemy, The bullets seem to be going the wrong way like when i was shooting some NVA guy stationed in a hut with the machinegun, It seems to be hitting the top of the hut instead of hitting the guy. The hitscanning, bullet tracing and hitboxes seem to be off so fix that. Also, i dislike the food, water and bandages thing, add those only on a realistic difficulty but not the standard ones. That feature is good and realistic for a shooter like STALKER or Escape from Tarkov or etc. but this is a Doom mod and it is supposed to play out like as if it were Doom. Just keep the feature for a realistic difficulty. Also the enemies seem to automatically lock on to you once you are on their line of sight even hiding in the bushes, no matter how far you are as if they had eagle eye. I could barely even see them thru the plantlife when im trying to get down from their rapid fire.
Is time to rip and tear some vietcongs >:)
Okay... here's my quick review of this version of VietDoom.
First of all, this mod feels so ******* cool to play. I love the music, the design of the weapons and how the VC yell out during combat. The vehicle sections are a blast and i love the destruction and the fire. The gore is satisfying as well.
Now I get that this mod is in an extremely early state and this is it's first release, but here are my criticisms.
The health system is a pain in the ***. Bandages are annoying to find in a level and don't heal enough health. Yes I know food exists but you don't come across it frequently enough. I don't think the health system is really a good fit for this mod.
The enemies are like homing missiles. They will always hit you everytime you are spotted, they are way broken. They sling grenades at you like its COD 4 Multiplayer all over again. Even playing on the second easiest difficulty the VC are just way too OP and it really is a determent to the overall experience of the mod. It doesn't help that the Auto-aim is broken and you can't shoot through windows of a building or an enemy in the tower reliably, so it's best to just turn it off.
It's also really hard to see VC through the flora. Maybe I'm just blind or that's the point, but it's hard to kill them when they are lasering you through the bushes.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way... here are my suggestions:
-Add ADS, I know you said you didn't want to add it to keep it old school but I think it would be a welcomed addition to be able to scope out VC better
-Nerf the AI
-Tweak the colors of the flora. Maybe darken the plantlife and brighten the VC
-Tweak the health system. I'm not too sure what i would use as a health system for this mod but maybe you could think of something.
-Slow the combat down, make it more like Hideous Destructor but less hardcore.
In conclusion, I've been waiting for a release for this mod for a long *** time and yes I had a blast playing through what is in the game now. Please take my suggestions and criticisms into consideration and keep up the incredible work!

Very interesting mod!
There are few Vietnam war games, so it's great to play it with DOOM.
For now,the enemies were quite powerful and friendly soldiers could easily be blown away by RPG,
so even if I choose an easy difficulty level, the strategy is as difficult as hell.
As others have already said, I think the gun needs ADS mode.
Since the enemy shoots the player accurately from a long distance while hiding, aim mode is also necessary for M16 etc. to defeat it.
By adding aim mode to the gun, players will be more accustomed to searching for enemies more carefully, giving the game a sense of realism.
It's my favorite modder here!

Only thing I was really missing while playing this was iron sights for the
non-scoped weapons. Otherwise, it feels great.
I played both Brutal Doom and VietDoom Alpha on both PC and phone(when im at school)and they are good. But i have a problem when it comes to playing it on phone since BD. Why does the touch screen movement controls dont work while driving a tank? Well yes, its preferrable to play on PC but i also need to rip and tear demons outside home and i do need to use the tank that was provided on specific levels.

I think that's what it was like during the Nam War where the Commies are only allowed to utilize green tracers because of some political war stuff, I dunno bruv, its my guess.
