this is the place that will eventually be used to discuss mapping and locals so chaos describe the landscapes we are going to be mapping and eventually seeing in game.

Ok, ill try my best at describing the maps as i envision them.

First Level
mostly a valley, so you've pretty much got a linear level with lots of outcroppings for the enemy to shoot downwards from. A clearing is at the start where the thunderhawk will drop delta off (I got Bloodraven working on a Thunderhawk for us), then moving through the valley, Delta will lead a long unbroken firefight so enemies every click or so, so that there are no breaks in the game. Eventualy they will come into an area with caves on the side where chaos are positioned, and furies sweep from above. then more valley leading sort of downwards then a mid-sized clearing where first cutscene takes place and one marine is turned into a chaos spawn. A final Valley trek and a steep hill with boulders at the top that fall after Delta once they trigger the sequence by moving onto the hill. then at the bottom of the hill, a sort of cave with an entrance resembling the mouth of a great beast.

We seriously need a person who will draw concepts of maps,i know Ox is drawing,but we need others too.

Also,i dont suggest by starting with space marines first,i think we should first let the players play as imperial guard,according to chaos's story,player will jump right into the action and he will fight the chaos,and eventually,in the end he will die,then goes a little cinematic video about preperations of marines,and their arrival on planet,and then player starts playing with marines. I personally love COD games because of that,infinity wards lets you jump right into the action instead of huge videos or cinematics and game tutorials,players love that. please post what you think.

Makes sense, and I agree we do need someone to draw concepts of maps as well as the other concept art.

I mentioned the prolog a whilst back, but if i recall correctly, at the time it wasnt that popular. The basic idea was having the players play as a squad of guards in the outer outpost, they were the first to sight the Chaos forces, which at the time comprised of mere cultists and renegade guards, and send out a distress call. Just as the Cavalry (Leman Russ tanks and 4 troop divisions) arrive, The main strike force reveal themselves and the players are literaly rolled over by every chaos unit we got. I got a WIP of it going right now, it will play basicly before the first chapter in the story, before those two guards send out the distress call to the marines.

I contacted about a week ago a concept artist saying he would like to help but he has disapeared off the face of Terra -.- so ill ask around for some new ones, in area level design. Mind you, Im still looking forward to Ox's final concept, it should prove EPIC!

And about that idea of killing off Ramus, It sounds like an interesting concept, maybe Uriel and some of the other squad leaders which you play could also be cut down. then if we at a later stage do release a Tyranid expansion, introduce maybe Tyranic War veterans into the main role.

i will, but i wil focus on corruption and some ideas of maybe a winter stomr in there... that would certainly add up some environ choices...

Also: for the Multiplayer, i have been thinking of a desert world's city for the tanks battls, a territory capturing trench warfare (four points, there is arty going on about everywhere and you have to hold all points for a certain limt of time) then a team tag or something and a chaos world with large warp enegys going by... tell me what you think guys... :D

sounds good, you should make a urban map where the objectives are to hold certain points in the map and fight of the enemy and no vehicals just to make it more of an urban brawl

i was thinking about it, but also, what about an aerial fight... you gain control of the thunderhawk and have to fight your rear out of the situation... that should be also a first part of the assault idea of mine...(a battle where you use bolt pistol and chainsowrd to get rid of the enemy at close combat with jump pack...) then again, i shall leave that to you...:duck:

from the lore and fluff side there is nothing wrong with that , but codeing etc may be a problem

not realy, the UDK is relatively simple to code. We could insert a few special multiplayer scenarios next to the multiplayer campaign, that would give us a wider choice of game variants, and more imagination as we wouldn't be bound by the campaign settings.

now that is what i like to hear... i'll post up what i have done so far later on... my printer is a bit glitchy these days now... XP

I got baack form my trip to other colleges and i found it kind of funny to see that there were a lot of gothic structures... i was thinking that if you lot could make a map where the battle is more of a silent and swift kill place with the walls acting against everyone as they are in a vortex of spiraling majic and chaos eve...

i think the first map should actually be quite large just to get the fell of the game no one like been thrown into a second mission skill less.
