First Oculus released a Rift compatibility tool, along with Oculus-ready PCs, and now HP - in partnership with HTC - has revealed VR-ready PC builds designed to support the Vive SteamVR headset. The two builds fall under the HP Envy Phoenix brand, with one running an AMD GPU, and the other, an NVIDIA card. The actual components are rather impressive:

  • Storage: 2TB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive
  • Optical: SuperMulti DVD Burner

Both PCs feature customisable LED lighting on their cases, along with liquid cooling. Unlike Oculus and its hardware partners, HP has not announced a bundle discount if the PC is purchased at the same time as a Vive headset, so the builds are considerably more expensive even without the HMD's still-unknown price accounted for.
