MTV Networks launched a new division, MTV Games, that develops, markets, and publishes new video game franchises. The division also licenses MTV content to other game developers and reaps the royalties. MTV Games is best known for its Rock Band franchise, which it acquired through the $175 million purchase of game developer Harmonix.
