[PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BELOW, DLTX REQUIRED] This mod lets you put scopes into the binocular slot and look through them as if they were binoculars. New Game Required.
Ever find a bad condition gun you're not going to keep but it has a scope? or a scope but no gun to put it on?
Scopes As Binoculars aims to allow you to put scopes into your binocular slot and look through them just like a pair of binoculars!
Current working vanilla scopes are pso1, pso1m2-1, acog, 1p29, pu, po4x34, galil & zf4 scope
Plus Specter, Pso2, 1p59, 1pn93, Leupold, pn23, Gauss Sight, 1pn93n2_1gs, 1p78gs, Susat, Marchf, Usp1 & Susatov scopes if you're using the included BaS Patch.
Restored Tracking With The Gauss Scope
Most of the scopes work perfect as both a scope & binos (Including all BaS Scopes). They can be dragged or double clicked into the bino slot, is one working item that goes on the guns and in the bino slot very smoothly. You shouldnt notice any weird behavior with those besides that they can now go in the bino slot and can be looked through.
The PU, po4x34, galil & ZF4 are a little different. they can only be dragged into the bino slot, at which point scripts are used to delete your scope and spawn the bino version into that slot (separate new item), and the reverse is done when putting it back into your inventory.
Its like this because half the scopes are inside the weapon_addons.ltx and the other half are inside weapon_scopes.ltx. the scopes inside the weapon_addons.ltx(pso, acog, 1p29 etc) work really well when just adding the necessary edits to make them work as binos but unfortunately the scopes inside the weapon_scopes.ltx(pu, po4x34, galil & zf4) and their associated guns are configured quite a bit differently and wont work the same way.
Make sure you have DLTX capable exes.
Shouldnt have any major conflicts.
If using with Boomsticks&Sharpsticks, install the patch after both BaS & Scopes as Binoculars.

Mod conflict notifications for demonized_time_events.script can be ignored, lots of mods including mine use this same script.
Some scopes have slightly higher zoom when in the bino slot then on the gun
If you're playing with the backpack animation you might get some lockups while opening/closing bag with scope in hand. bag hates the scopes idle anim
pu, po4x34, galil & zf4 scope cant be dragged into the bino slot as the very very first action of a fresh launch (if your trying to test this mod in debug just equip your pda first)
animation transitions arent perfect & some of the scopes clip with some of the fingers
All scopes have dynamic zoom when in the bino slot so a script is used to keep them at max zoom if they arent suppose to have it. looks a little off if you try to zoom out since its constantly forcing you back.

Fixed minor issue that would result in a duplicated scope when the mod was used in conjunction with some of the more obscure weapon packs out there.

I was thinking the same thing, this is incredibly cool and nifty but I share the same concern you do. I guess you could argue fully upgraded binos still would have more zoom than most optics do.
this will not devalue binoculars since binoculars have a better view and can capture targets and sights are only a circle in the center
Devalues the binos that costs like, what, 2700-3000 rubles on highest economy and available from the start in what way? Not only binos has wider sight, but you also can upgrade them and get higher possible zoom, decrease the weight to half the kilogram, and add the higher contrast or even NVG on them. So no, there is not really such a thing as devalue of binos...
Will this conflict with Dynamic Anomalies Overhaul?, I noticed the file " Demonized_Time_Events.script " gets over-written by your addon. Should it be loaded before or after DAO?.
it wont conflict in any way, its the same script in both mods.

Same here! It's surprisingly useful in my Ironman runs with Respawn Mod/Curse of Immortality. When I lose all my gear, it makes for a good replacement in a pinch. Especially with no money or traders around.

which scopes are *supposed* to have dymanic zoom? i just noticed my typo, and i'm gonna roll with it. i got a big mod load order and at one point the dynamic zoom worked in the binocs slot for a ps0 but like you say it will rubber band back the fov. i just learned about the dynamic _zoom setting in the ltx and ive been trying to track down what mods use it or not. been DLXtfying mods as well with the tool. im not even sure if i asked this right my mind is a bit overwhelmed from once again attempting to further study the file structures of the game as a whole. i was able to enable the dynamic zoom for al the scopes in the ltx for the ak74. so i guess what im trying to do at this point is figure out how to (re?)enable the scope's dynamic zoom when used in the binoc slot. sry if this is missguided
you would need to edit the scripts that come with the mod.
