Adaptation of Arszi's Radiation Overhaul addon to CoTZ, ported from 1.5r7.
Original addon:
Moddb.com
Key points:
- Radioactive spots can expand and become stronger;
- Radiation kills slower;
- Possible to gain invulnerability to radiation after reaching certain high level of protection;
- Vodka has prolongated effect;
- Radioprotector less effective, it is a supplementary boost rather than complete protection;
- Press Numpad + find out irradiation dose;
- Press Numpad - to disable/enable Geiger counter sound.
Haven't tested it much because I don't have enough patience to wait for x32 engine load the game. Besides, there is no debug map mode to quickly move between spots. So it is what it is. If you reconfigure some of the files to balance things out - I can include your changes in addon.
Update 1: (Optional) Louder Geiger counter click sound
Update 2: Compatibility patch for Moddb.com
Update 3: Fixed muted sound in highly radioactive zones
Bruh xD At least you put it out for it. I may play this for vanilla experiences again. If you want I can test it for you.
This seems to cause a CTD. Is it not updated?
One massive problem: Whenever I enter a highly radiated area or am in close proximity to any mutant that isn't a tushkano or rat, my fps DUMPS. A wild dog coming up to bite me or running past the radiation belt on the Garbage hills takes me from 40-60 fps to half a frame per second, I have literally no clue why this happens but until I either manage to kill the mutant, get out of the radiation or just reload a quicksave. My game is completely frozen save for one frame jumps every 2 or 3 seconds. Thankfully mild background radiation doesn't cause any noticeable lag.
Settings: Minimum preset, DX8
Yes, had the same brief lag on the borders of highly radioactive zone in Garbage, when entering or leaving it, worse if staying in it. Looks like script is too heavy for engine, because it never happens in CoC 1.5r7 with patches, in same conditions. When it comes to 1.5r7 armor radioprotection tiers are completely messed up there, while COTZ is much more balanced, I didn't even have to tweak outfits configuration files here and all.
So as for now I don't know how this performance issue can be fixed, but on the other hand I honestly can't say that this addon adaptation is a must-have for COTZ, unlike CoC.
Hello there, can you make this addon compatible with SWTC Weather? I tried to merge myself but the only file from SWTC that relates to weather level_weathers.script is the only one that is proving a real pain to merge as the file used in SWTC and Rad overhaul have very different structures to one another.
Reuploaded with compatibility patch - level_weathers.script. But so you know, I've only added one function to the script:
function WeatherManager:get_curr_weather()
return self.cycle
end
So, if it gets updated or changed, SWTC I mean, you only have to add these 3 lines to the script somewhere.
