Old Kharak Homeworld 2 Map
Name: Old Kharak
Players: 4
Initial Resources: 20000
It is a mix of two maps,
Originaly From: "Slipstream:TPOF"(level) and "BSG:Fleet Comander"(Background)
Requirements:
Homeworld 2 1.1 (as far as I know)
Kharak didn't have water on the surface mate. I don't think. You couldn't really make out much in those gray-scale clips. But all in all a really good effort.
The planet is not mine it was made by tefrari
It was a great shot so I cant resist to use it.
He has made a lot of other Kharaks, but this one was beautiful. Here is a link for other versions Tefearimpor.com
It also feels like a terraformed Mars.
Sorry this is my First release of anything so mabe i'm bad writing readme files but if you the installation depends in how many and what mods did you have installed in your game so i need more info to give you more detailed instructions
Actually i will correct you all on top for beleiving Kharak has no surface water. go to encyclopedia hiigara and look up kharak. it has an ocean surrounding the entire southern pole named the 'Majiiran Ocean'(as seen in the photo) and three northern "great lakes" that surround the north. the picture of Kharak in game probably didn't show them because of the time it would have taken with technologies from 1999:)
Sorry im kinda a Homeworld fan who knows too much about the game. another possible reason is that i am making a fanfiction of the game placed a couple hours before the Mothership leaves to the Outskirts.
But yes i beleive the ammount of water of the ocean is a little exagerated. and the green landmass should be a lot smaller with maybe a small desert surrounding the shorelines.
Thanks for clearing that, I've read about that before on the first Homeworld history files that came within the game, but I was afraid that I could be wrong.
Can you be a bit more specific on how to install this map, as in how you have it installed on your system to get it to fully work ? As it is I have the level working just cant get the rest of it to work (The Back round etc). Thanks
Sorry for the late reply...
The folders where you place the files must be created, also the backround is completely dark, so if you can see the sun in the map it is working properly, because I use Evillejedi Stars Functions to at least show stars in the back.
also keep in mind that the Tiidani fleet that hit Kharak at the beginning of HW BURNED THE ATMOSPHERE OF THE PLANET OFF WITH ORBITAL BOMBARDMENT MISSILES. given the desert environment, without terraforming later (and I would assume that the Higgarins would put an outpost of some kind out here) it would take a good number of millennia for the atmosphere to rebuild from intersteller gas accretion. so it actually makes some sense if you assume it's been recolonized, otherwise, the thing'ed be indistinguishable from every other dead world, with the exseption of the scaffold wreck and debris ring...

Yep Kharak had absolutely no water on the surface.. Maybe down below but we haven't seen it in Homeworld1. Still nice work!

What are the conditions to use it?
Well I've updated some Info about it, so as you can see the only requirement is to have Homeworld 2 patched with the 1.1 version
Sorry, I meant license - Would you mind if I take it to my mod? (under Creative Common License 3)
Well I have no problem with that, sure you can use it.
What would be the name for your mod?, I will look forward to it.
Well, we are not sure yet about mod`s name, but if we`ll get to the release, I`ll write You :)

There was water. RTFM, please: Majirian sea, Naabel valley near the Icy polar head and other.
Mb, it's looks like there's overwatered polars )
