I thought that the original "Metro Style Masks" were a bit cheap and it nearly looked like you had nothing on at all, so I actually got the real mask textures and although some of the glass distortion effects arent there, I think it looks very good while still keeping the clarity that the original mod intended. Its installed the same was as the other mods, its just a texture replacement so there shouldn't be any issues. The texture on two of the mask states are a bit lower resolution but youd only notice if your mask really got smashed up.
Does it have the same option the clean the gas mask with a hand?
Afaik, cleaning your mask is a base feature from Dead Air, so this retexture would not effect it.
I feel like the cracks in the masks should be slightly blurred (like the blood), as when they are not, it implies that your eye is always focusing on them.
If youd like to, feel free. As right as you are, I just whipped this together for me and then decided to upload it incase someone else was bugged by the same thing I was.
nice appreciate you for doing this cause the default mask huds were fugly asf
"A bit cheap" is a bit harsh, wasn't my mask texture set to begin with, just porting a mod that I liked.
Don't get me wrong, these new textures are much more immersive, but no need to call the original creator's work cheap.
Looks good. Not a fan of the misty/foggy effect in the edges! I think it could look good if it was moved way further off to the edges, as a more of a subtle touch.
Theres no way to mimic the refraction effect on the edges of the mask due to the technical limitations. Personally the xray engine just isnt worth the effort and im baffled to this day the amount of support stalker has on its original engine.
ay you think putting all the English from all stalker games to just mercs is possible? it be good for lore immersion
As much as I appreciate this and the textures, these tend to dim the world colors, if only around the edges but it really is a 'disadvantage'.
I'll stick to the old one and keep those reflection effects, they look nicer.
Mmmm I think similar reflection effects should've been in the Metro games as well to begin with.
I don't like the vignette fog around the edges, its not so bad when the mask isn't shot up and cracked but when it does it is impossible to see.
Sorry guys, to be honest and as far as personal opinion goes, I much prefer Dead Air's original model to both this and the other 'metro-style masks' mod.
The fact that the original one has a subtly out of focus and vignette'd outline features, makes it a very pleasant verisimilitude of wearing something tactile close to one's face, where both of the modded varieties look a bit blunt and basic - a downgrade really.
I get it that vanilla may feel too strong to some, it actually does to me too just a little bit, so no offence is meant, just an honest opinion!
Good effort either way and I think perhaps you'd benefit from a slightly different outline of the masks shape, closer resembling vignetting of the vanilla dead air: no gas mask visors would give you a single circular shape like this one - professional cinematographer's word ;)
where do you have to put in the folder?
