High quality textures for Middle-earth. Contains 8k Heightmap, normal map, AO and aerial style PBR textures.
Original intended for a Total War modification, but the assets can be reused by any other project.
Assets were originally made for Dawnless Days (Rise of Mordor) modification of Attila Total War.
For that reason, there might be some oddities about the textures.
The terrain resolution of that game is expecting textures of 8128x5764. All content inside the "Textured" folder will appear stretched since it's made as 8192^2 but meant to fit the ingame resolution.
The heightmap and normal were generated in Gaea and exported as 8192x8192. You will find those files in "Raw_Bakes"
I've also included some of the masks I've used during simulation.
I tried to make the terrain somewhat realistic and respect the laws of physics (slow gradient slope from the ocean, rivers always running downhill and towards the ocean)
In Total War, there are sailable rivers, which are usually connected to the ocean. The ocean itself needs to be at height of 0 and the same goes for the sailable rivers. It affects Anduin up to Cair Andros and Greyflood up to Tharbad. Therefore they might be a bit thicker and the surrounding terrain might appear too low.

Thanks and Good luck with you projects

Very cool! I made a quick C# renderer for this, available here:

Oh that's neat! What that be used with?
I'm frankly just horsing around. Learning.
