I heard HBAO matches the performance of Nvidia cards very well

Это правда, сам играю с ним на 3070 Ti

in reality it's a SSAO disguised as HBAO. So nvidia card or not it will not change much.

Same was gonna comment about this, seems to not play too well with ES. Shame too, tested without it and it looks great! Can't wait to see how it looks with it when it works.

I will post an update for ES users later. In the meantime you can always access the "Setting_screen_space_AO" text file in your R3 folder and edit it. Look for the line

"#define G_SSDO_INTENSITY 2.5f // General AO intensity".

adjust the intensity (2.5f) to your liking. Don't forget to clear the shaders before restarting the game.

Amazing. This needs a compatibility patch with Enchanced Shaders 1.10

Just gave the patch a try. Nice work! ES with GGX enabled along with this adds a ton of depth to the guns overall, the AO is really clean looking on shadows casted by/on the weapons themselves. This is now a must have for me.

Thx for your addon! So, after installation, in Settings --> Advanced (by menu) I need to choose HBAO instead of HDAO or SSDO?

the description says it:
-launch the game and choose the "SSDO" option in the graphics options and set it to medium quality.

my tweak is just imitating the hbao using ssao. you must choose the ssdo option on medium quality in game option (high quality does not make much difference and requires more resources)

SSS requires you to use SSDO option from game menu to work, if you have been using HBAO instead... well you havent been getting the right effects from it

I mentioned what this tweak changes in detail in the description. This tweak changes the effects of the ssao integrate mod sss to make it more visible with a narrower radius of effect. The result is an imitation of the HBAO, always going through the SSDO option.

Why should we deselect the IL option of SSS? Does this addon not play nice with it, or does it "replace" it with its own version?

This is no longer necessary, you can now enable IL. I will edit the description.

Commented out USE_BURLEY_DIFFUSE and enabled USE_GGX_SPECULAR.
ALBEDO_BOOST set to 0.0
r2_gloss_factor 0.001 and r2_gloss_min set to 0.88 if other things are too shiny 0.5 is alright.
Also using Dynamic Time-Based Tonemapping with only the standard tonemapping values changed.
r2_tonemap_adaptation 2.5
r2_tonemap_amount 1
r2_tonemap_lowlum 0.35
r2_tonemap_middlegray 1.7
r2_sun_lumscale 2.3
r2_sun_lumscale_amb 0.88
r2_sun_lumscale_hemi 1
All brightness and gamma settings I'd leave up to personal preference.

I thought my last version didn't need separation anymore but after testing I just noticed that the effects didn't work properly without ES. So thank you for your comment, I just corrected the situation by publishing a new update for ES and without ES. Try it!

Game crashes after 10 minuts, it's this mod 100%, no error crash message, it happen without the es and the sss AO radious option uncomment, i'm using your last version of the mod (the only SSS version)

it could be related to the uncoment section from sss AO settings ltx but i'm not sure i love the way game looks with the mod sadly i can't make it work but nice job!

Sorry my english is bad but what do you mean by "AO radious option uncomment"? Did you delete this line? This one is important and could actually be linked to your crash. You can reduce the number or increase it but I don't think it will work properly if you remove it.

I just tested for more than 20 min with a fresh sss installation on different maps and I had no problem. I think the problem comes from your "AO radious option uncomment". Try the default and if you find the option too strong or too light you can edit these lines by increasing or decreasing the values:

#define G_SSDO_RADIUS 0.15f // AO radius, higher values means more occlusion coverage with less detail and intensity. ( Recommended 0.1 ~ 0.5 )
#define G_SSDO_INTENSITY 3.5f // General AO intensity.

It was my fault i tried with the coment lines and that was causing the ctd, after uncomment the ssdo radius (define G_SSDO_DETAILED_SEARCH ) game works fine
