Oh that's my bad, I remembered wrongly that snorks in shadow of chernobyl had some weird breathing sound, but you're right that must have been a mod.

These mutant sounds on the other hand do sound great, but I think they are not released:

The idea is that: 1) you should feel sorry for the enemy by killing a living being, this is not DOOM. 2) Stalker is a game close to realism and it will be stupid if a cat growls in the voice of a lion, tiger or cougar
Counter-argument: it's a horrible mutant that mimics human sounds, I doubt it's gonna sound like a normal cat
