This addon sets the FOV to 95 by default, to compensate for modern resolutions. More importantly however, it lets the user define the FOV via the console.
WHAT THIS IS AND WHY
Rainbow Six 3 ever since its last patch (1.6) has a hard coded locked FOV. You cannot change it via INI tweaks or via the console. Even though the FOV appears to be set to 90, at larger resolutions Rainbow Six 3 merely stretches the image to fit, lowering the effective FOV the higher you go. At 3440 x 1440 for example, that 90 FOV feels more like 50. At 16:9 resolutions, it feels like 60.
This addon sets the FOV to 100 by default, to compensate for modern resolutions. More importantly however, it lets the user define the FOV via the console.
INSTALLATION
1. Unzip and merge the included "system" folder with the one in your Rainbow Six 3 install directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rainbow Six 3 Gold)
2. Edit the RavenShield.mod file which is located in Rainbow Six 3's "mods" directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rainbow Six 3 Gold\mods). Find the line that begins with:
m_PlayerCtrlToSpawn
Comment it out, then enter the following line below it:
m_PlayerCtrlToSpawn=fov.FOVPlayerController
3. Perform step #2 for AthenaSword.mod, IronWrath.mod, and any mod you plan on playing (e.g. SupplyDrop.mod)
4. OPTIONAL - To use this in multiplayer, copy the supplied 'fov.u' file into the 'textures' folder within the Rainbow Six 3 install directory, and rename it so that the file extension is now .UTX instead of .U (so it'll be renamed to fov.utx).
USE
Now your FOV will be set to 105. To adjust it, launch the game and then open the console (by default the tilde (~) key), and enter:
newfov x
Where x is your desired fov. For example: newfov 110

This is exactly what this game needed. The only issue I have with this is that the fov resets every time you aim down sights. Is it possible to fix this?
I have a small fix maybe.
Make a fov.txt in your systems folder.
newfov (number)
and save it, put in a couple extra just to be sure.
Then go to you user.ini in save/profiles/user.ini.
When you're in there put this on your ADS key or mouse2
RightMouse=Zoom | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt
You can bind it to any key to quickly reapply it.
this will execute the fov command a few times when aiming down sights.
If you use RavenShield 2.0 the fov won't change back, I found ECT will though. Maybe combining the mods will fix it permanently.
I have tried your method and it doesn't work. I found right mouse button and entered Zoom | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt | exec fov.txt.
I have also combined RS2.0 and the fov resets.
It's not a big deal.
This FOV fix isn't great because it resets upon zooming in. The latest OpenRVS patch has full custom FOV support, and ensure you remove this mod because it conflicts.
