Changes the draw distance for vanilla weather effects.
This rather simple addon will extend the draw distance to the extreme, foggy weather will still be foggy but a bit less like London and more natural looking. It can and WILL conflict with other weather mods. Tested with 1.5.2 and working.
Changelog:
v0.2 - Fixed uncanny flat looking color and map edges
v0.3 - Added presets for fog distance
v0.4 - Added compatibility patch for Soundscape Overhaul (Apply and overwrite after installing the base files, only use this if you installed stereo thunder option)
Preset comparison:
Default (Vanilla)
Fog Distance 1000
Fog Distance 1200
Default
Fog Distance 1000
Fog Distance 1200
Default
Fog Distance 1000
Fog Distance 1200

I'm not familiar with current popular weather mods, if there is some "must have" ones I will add compatibility patch.
Hi, it seems to conflict with this Soundscape overhaul 2 3.0
Specifically night.ltx, w_storm1.ltx and w_storm2.ltx
Added a patch.
Can anything be done about the perfect horizontal line that cuts across the screen in foggy weather? It's basically the edge of the skybox but it comes in front of all world objects and it looks ridiculous.
Show me what you mean. I'm currently looking into some optimizations for certain weathers. Thing is on large map it looks great on smaller ones odd.
EDIT: found your problem, working on it, will release the fix shortly after I test other maps and weathers.
Fixed the foggy weather fog. Should look natural now instead of flat.
I have this same exact problem. Does this mod finally address the issue?
Have you noticed any drop in FPS?
Maybe a little bit but nothing drastic.
Matter of taste but taking the first comparison screenshot set as a good example, I much prefer the vanilla settings.
The effects will vary depending on the map and weather but Stalker's maps are small to begin with and the 'draw distance fog', whether accidentally or on purpose, simulates nicely the natural gradation of details that real-life atmosphere produces and which is so prevalent in landscape paintings. With your max settings d-distance there is no gradation left, and everything becomes just flat, equally saturated and contrasted at 10m and at 500m.
Good attempt but there's space still for refinement, is what I'm saying; don't just dial it up to the max - more isn't always better.
Fog was broken. You can't have the draw and fog distance at the same value, it makes everything flat. I updated the files to fix the edge gradient and make things blend more naturally. Still some small maps even with added fog will look empty, just how it is..
Should look much better now though.
thanks for the efforts, might check it soon!
Will it affect fps?
Not much. Depends on NPC count more than visible geometry.
enixgamer, just tested, it's good! Even as you loose a bit of that atmospheric lighting effect, you actually seem to gain some visual fidelity with regards to how unnatural fog sometimes looks in vanilla Anomaly.
thanks for the mod.
Your mod gives me an error upon strating the game. Not sure why.

Do you have any ideas what can cause this? I installed sounscape overhaul patch.
Game crash:

I get the same CTD as the user above me when I launch Anomaly, crashes both on 1000 and 1200 using this with Soundscape Overhaul no other weather addons enabled, comp patch applied yet still get CTD.
Did you apply the patch after base files or before? Are you using any other mods that change weather files?
Just checked all my mods and no other mod besides Soundscape Overhaul effect the weather, only other addon I suspect is Skies Redux but as stated by it's author it only affects sky textures. And yes I applied the SCO patch over the addon's gamedata then accepted overwrite.
EDIT:
Tried to play without SCO patch and so far not a single CTD, everything's running smoothly, strange how I have Soundscape Overhaul enabled but this addon works only without that comp patch.
The patch only affects stereo thunder. If you don't use that, the patch is useless. Probably that is cause of the crash.
A patch for "Abnormal Weather" perhaps?
I cannot uninstall this addon. If I remove it I get same type of error as some posters above

How is that even possible? :D Game just CTDs before getting to main manu if I stop using it
to uninstall you should delete your gamedata folder and extract all previously used mods again.

Whats up mate, does the addon work in the 1.5.2 version?
See the title, yes
We must modify the rs_vis_distance / r__geometry_lod? What' the best value for either? The default "1" ?
