An older but stable version. The number of difficulties have been decreased from 7 to 5 to eliminate more work on my end and to reduce some duplicate behavior between them that was more of a holdover from extremely old versions of the mod - Accessories (now Augmentations) have been completely redone; the system works quite similarly now to Deus Ex, where you will need an Augmentation Canister to get the base level of an aug, and then Upgrade Canisters to upgrade it further, the active augs allowed limit is still in place, however, you can get slot upgrades to increase that limit, however, they are very rare/expensive - The Rank curve has now been modified to coincide with the difficulty changes, and the curve will be larger on higher skill levels - The Rank Payout system has been changed, it now uses a base pay amount, and then takes into account how many monsters you've killed plus your current map progress to determine the final pay, making it more dynamic and hopefully more useful.

Comes with addons for Brutal Doom compatibility, Extras, GSA, TUTNT and the RL Arsenal & Monsters.

When starting the game for the first time, you will need to go into Options -> Doom RPG Options and restore the options to defaults. If you don't do this, you will have many issues including not being able to move and other oddities

Note: DoomRPG-Brutal.pk3 and DoomRPG-Extras.pk3 CAN NOT BE USED TOGETHER
When using DoomRPG-Brutal (Brutal Doom Doom RPG Patch), make sure you have Brutal Doom
Compatibility enabled in the Doom RPG Options menu. If you don't do this, there will be errors and/or strange issues.

  • A Level-up and stat system, allowing you to customize the properties of your character for your own playstyle
  • A currency system, Credits, which are dropped by monsters when killed
  • A Rank system with regular payouts of Credits, higher rank yields a better payout, rank increases as you kill monsters
  • A combo system which will increase your experience and rank gain as you kill more monsters in fast succession
  • A skill system with various skills including healing, buffs, projectiles, summons and general utility skills, more are being added
  • A shop where you can use your credits to buy weapons, ammo and supplies
  • Many inventory items now exist, including tiered health restoration items and re-done and new armor types
  • 2 new HUDs to show new information such as level, rank, EP, combo counters, powerup timers, and more (and the mugshot, of course :P)
  • Items are now randomized and varied
  • Runes which will give you temporary bonuses for a short time
  • Different types of explosive barrels which do varying amounts of specific kinds of damage
  • Various cosmetic improvements (optional)

I can't even go that far. I can never get this mods to my Burtal Doom mod to work. Either the command line says there's an error or I can't even get that far.

I would recommend that you guys stick to default settings when using this, there are a lot of bugs that need fixing still.

I don't think the Brutal Doom version of DoomRPG is ready yet. A lot of things have been tweaked and stuff broke, so it will be a bit before it is fixed.

I've put it into PK3's because its just easier that way...

if anyone was wondering what the issue was, basically the creator recommends people to create a batch file (txt renaming the end part to bat) and putting in the old fashioned way the load order: gzdoom.exe -file followed by the location of the folders of the DoomRPG addons you want. Don't bother with that. (zdoom ini file can be used for load order anyway for those that want fix/test compatibility issues).

The versions of DoomRPG newer than v0.95 are using a different script handler, which means features will be missing and weird glitches will occur, its just something that people over on zdoom have to deal with. Eventually it will allow for more advanced features and optimize it all to work well as it reaches v1.

Yeah, I pretty much said the same thing about PK3's and ZDoom's ini file before you deleted my post for some reason.

I can't seem to get the rpg to run with the brutal mod. Also are there even ways to use the rpg elements with a 360 controller?
