Because silence or just a heartbeat (which are just leftovers from Misery) is terrible and because i love the combat music, i took Call of Pripyats combat music and compiled my own versions of the Clear Sky combat music to work with the CoP/CoC/Anomaly dynamic music system
I know liking the combat music is a really unpopular opinion within the community, but to me it completes the experience of getting on top of a combat encounter and overall having it excluded is a waste of a dynamic music system.
This adds:
Clear Sky combat music added plus CNPP Battle theme
Call of Pripyat's restored combat music
Update 1: Accidently uploaded test version
Update 2: Cut/prototype combat tracks added
Update 3: Changed the prototype CoP tracks back to their two part split, couldn't find a decent way to split them into 3 parts without some jarring music starts, only reason i didn't do that to begin with is because the music system is usually weird in mods if a track has less or more than 3 parts, it will probably be best to nuke the "combat" folder under the music folder in gamedata as to not have leftover useless files when you update, this will probably be the last major change
Update 4: (EDIT: Accidently mistyped a line in script, fixed now for real) No more crashing hopefully, also tidied up some track splits and redone Prototype CoP combat music to be in 3 parts, it seems the source of the freezes are from this, better late than never.
Feel free to use this in repacks or as assets in your own mod just be polite and give credit.
Sadly because of how the fadeout works ingame, thats actually impossible, see post combat your music slider in options secretly and slowly goes to zero before slowly going back up for the transition to ambient tracks, hence why that annoying bug happens where your music volume goes to zero if you reload a save, (or save a game while its doing the transition, its not 100% clear to me) Now if i could 100% port over the Clear Sky dynamic music system, that would be no problem
I have, but honestly don't recall any such music, perhaps I'd switched it off :)
And again - entirely a matter of taste, and sentiment too I suppose!
Now getting out of here, on the double ;)
ps On that note I find similar thing to be the case with Elite Dangerous - it has some of the most atmospheric ambience and bits of ambient music I recall in games, coupled with unbelievably generic combat orchestrals that to me felt entirely at odds with the rest.
It seems there's an issue with Stalker Anomaly using Dynamic Music? When Dynamic Music is on the game crashes to desktop at random times. It seems to be happening when a music track finishes.
Sorry for being late, but honestly i have no idea, i commented the files properly, so it cant be that, and ive done testing to make sure there hasnt been any problems of that sort, can you provide a crash log?
Its certainly possible, you would need the right tools though to make Audio properly in Stalker, as .ogg files have hidden comments that dictate how loud they are and can the AI hear it etc, Natvac released a tool on the Anomaly Discord that makes the process a lot more easy unless you prefer to do it manually in a hex editor, you also need to be aware of how the Dynamic music system works, as songs can sometimes start on part 2 or 3, so you need to segment it properly
I liked how the cs system worked. I'm looking at the files now, but reading that comment worries me kinda. Figured I could just export ogg. I'd really like to modify all the action music and ambiance in it. Can you give a link to that tool? Maybe explain a little more how to modify the files correctly. I kinda assumed part one of each track was what plays at intro, part two of each is what loops, and part 3 is what ends... is it not that way. Was also looking at the script... yikes. They really buggered the system up didn't they.
is it more like what parts can loop and what parts mark beginning and end is set in the script, not necessarily 123. First second third, just more option 1 2 3... set by the script to randomly choose? I'd really like to figure it out.
Crashlog? i properly commented all the music and i copied the script in the game files that allows the mod itself to work but edited, and i dont have any crashing issues.
I dont know honestly, never froze before using my own addon and i did everything exactly right in how its formatted, you sure you just dont have a lot of addons with improperly done audio? Xray needs a edited .ogg format with code chunks embedded so that the engine knows what to do with it, usually if theres a lot of improperly done audio it causes massive stability issues across the board
2 Months late (🤣). I figured out, and ended up using this script innumerable times. . .
Managed to make a whole batch with 80 themes in the upcoming Phonk Music genre (using some knowledge about Dynamics that i possess).
So it's all good! Happy xmas
Sweet! I was thinking about those tunes the other day. Since I basically only play Anomaly nowadays I thought I'd never hear them again, apart from the OST. Thank you for the nostalgia :D
this mod makes my game crash usually 5 minutes in to combat, not crash but just freeze forever and i have to kill it with task manager, once i disabled the mod i havent gotten a single crash in 5+ hours, with the mod i crash almost everytime some time in to combat.
Late but i think this is a issue with the Anomaly version of Xray Engine at this point, ive tried everything to figure out what the issue is, however i yet to have any issues on the recently released 1.5.2 so i suspect its been fixed as of the release of that.
other than that im stumped because the only potential cause of stability issues was already resolved when i made all the tracks uniform in splits, which while it reduced them, didnt completely stop them either.
Hey Strelok, I kinda think about possible, tedious solution to make combat music shorter.
What if you cut down amount of songs and cut them apart to like 3-5 parts each song that will play one after another as combat goes. If combat ends at one of those parts, it will not play next one. Is it possible?
I want to remove original dynamic music and add some tracks instead and I know I need an editor and all, that's the part I was able to find online, but do you have a link to a site where someone explains the process or did you figure it out by yourself through trial and error and there's no tutorial and you would be the first person to make one? Because if the latter is true, I get that you might not have time or might not want to do it and I'd then start fiddling with it by myself too, but it would be really nice to know something more than what I can deduct from existing files and not wander in the darkness.
Hey, just a small tip. You should add a READ_ME.txt explaining how to add the addon to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Newer people to addons could be in the blue about adding them.
Otherwise, Very cool addon, really adds the vibe to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Awesome mod but my only complain is the music is simply too quiet even at max volume ingame. The music file itself is quite loud though so it cant be that
Awesome, thank you!
vary cool good job
all we need is some heavy metal from pantera , fear factory or the original doom sound tracks maybe ?
( hint hint )
Okay i like metal and doom but that's about as anti-stalker as i can get so, sorry
Just what I needed! Thanks! :)
Is there a way to make the combat music stop just a bit sooner after combat is over? thanks!

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification and thank you for this mod, I love it :)
I know it's all ultimately a matter of taste, but of all the addons and mods I've ever seen for stalker, this must be the most out-of-place lol.
I CANNOT imagine playing one of the most atmospheric games of all time with some early 90ies style rave on, it's SOOO corny! :D
Well then you have never played Clear Sky or Call of Pripyat
Get out of here Stalker
I have, but honestly don't recall any such music, perhaps I'd switched it off :)

Can I actually change the music in the mod ?
I mean like changing the Music OGG Files in the mod so I can add in my own music for combat.

tldr its complicated but yes

My game keeps freezing after a song ends.
Crashlog? i properly commented all the music and i copied the script in the game files that allows the mod itself to work but edited, and i dont have any crashing issues.
The error doesn't show in crashlog because the game infinity freezes and doesn't actually CTD so I don't exactly know what the problem is.
Never mind, after downloading Dynamic Music Volume Reset Fix addon it doesn't crash anymore.
When there is a long gunfight and a section of the song changes, the game freezes. I have protested several times. no info in logs.

This mod fixing freezes when music is playing? Because when I played, I've got freezes, so I turned off the game in task manager.
Sweet! I was thinking about those tunes the other day. Since I basically only play Anomaly nowadays I thought I'd never hear them again, apart from the OST. Thank you for the nostalgia :D
ah, so this where all those views for my video came from
cool (´ー`)y-~~
Add a volume setting to the MCM menu. The ambient is too loud compared to the music.
this mod makes my game crash usually 5 minutes in to combat, not crash but just freeze forever and i have to kill it with task manager, once i disabled the mod i havent gotten a single crash in 5+ hours, with the mod i crash almost everytime some time in to combat.
About the same, but it happens also when out of combat.
Late but i think this is a issue with the Anomaly version of Xray Engine at this point, ive tried everything to figure out what the issue is, however i yet to have any issues on the recently released 1.5.2 so i suspect its been fixed as of the release of that.

No, its hardcoded to randomly start at 1-however many splits there are and then fade out while still looping as it transitions.
I want to remove original dynamic music and add some tracks instead and I know I need an editor and all, that's the part I was able to find online, but do you have a link to a site where someone explains the process or did you figure it out by yourself through trial and error and there's no tutorial and you would be the first person to make one? ah the memories. thank you
The music is too quiet, make an update to make it louder
Yes I increased the music volume to max and i've decreased the SFX volume, still too quiet.

Works with 1.5.2?
I would assume so, the creator said "however i yet to have any issues on the recently released 1.5.2"

Sorry i rarely sign into ModDB and check my account here much.
The sound settings and internal audio comments that dictate how loud the music should be were imported from the original trilogy, so this is intended.
