Rofl!
That's well funny.

thats like the best comment EVER!
and its true ;)
if you dont have a girlfriend there is always porn... get a life i would say :) I play mods in my freetime ... The rest i spend with my girlfriend downtown ^^
Doing The Do? xD
The do so true.
"The only games made would be sequals and movie adaptions"
Sequels and adaptations. Spell check FTW.
[sarcasm]Yeah, mods have certainly changed all that...[/sarcasm]
Adaptions and adaptations are different things, use a dictionary.
No, actually they're the same things, as in synonymous. But since "movie adaptation" is the accepted common usage phrase, and since the post has been changed to "adaptation" it's obvious that "adaptation" was his intent and that it was misspelled. Use your brain.
Bad tone there mike...
Boring games all the time since companies don't want to risk innovating.
"The world would be a lonely place", "The only games made would be sequals and movie adaptions" and "I'd have a life" for me :P
i'd hav a life trying to get out of meeting a mate today coz we hav a big showcase planned :s not sure how lol...sad that id ditch an rl mate for that but its important.
life wouldn't be worth the effort without mods! Yes, I'd have a life, but as it was put in James Bond: The World Is Not Enough, "What's the point of living if you can't feel alive?" And without mods, the games I play (namely Half-Life 2) and I myself wouldn't feel very alive.
I'd have to play Harry Potter 32984r32 noooooooo
Remembering how developing our "The Way" mod removed a month of my life I'm glad the task was time-boxed. A mod should have a deadline or you will end up iterating over and over...
One month was all we got and that was all we needed :)
The problem is that most of those time-boxed games end up with development stopping at the release.
No patching sucks, since all mods (and games) need them.
I still wouldn't have a life. :(
I agree, Jiffy_No0b :P I'd just be playing the latest games that barely run on my nVidia 6200 :D
Well without mods I guess there would be no Mod DB, and i'd be a bored bored man. I just love reading mod news, watching videos and all that
Without mods, many people wouldn't be able to get jobs in the industry.
Am I rite?
My girlfriend would be happy if there were no mods... But thankfuly she isn't, this means i can get back to work :P
wow without mods Half-life2 and half life wouldn't be as successful
Those are pretty stupid poll options.
Without mods there would only be ONE Star gate game coming out :P and a **** load less DBZ and Zombie games.
However significantly less Ninja and Pirate Games :(
Without mods we will have experienced the same old levels and guns over and over and over and over.
without mods, no moddb
without moddb, no poll
Mods dont really matter, they're just things to make things a bit funner for the game nothing nothing else :P
But luckly there is mods :)
Mods today are merely a shadow of what was true mods in 1996-1998.
i'll agree to that. In the same sense, games were a lot easier to code for back then.
Why do modern games have to be more difficult to modify than old ones? I really don't understand it.
basicly its a lot more work, and more work means more time. And that is something a lot of people dosent have
BS...
The way the industry is right now...
I voted for sequels and movie adapts.
The industry is afraid to take chances...thats the major problem facing all game developers now.
I often feel like my life revolves around my modding, rather then the other way around, which isn't good as I spend too much time on my P.C. So much so that I recently contracted R.S.I so i'm having to take a break modding at the moment, & not spend too much time on my P.C.
So let that be a warning to all thoughs modders out there that spend day & night glued to their P.C, it isn't good for you at all, & don't forget to take plenty of breaks.
See this link for R.S.I info & how to avoid it:

Anyone know where I can go to "play something different"?
Project Revolution. The Starcraft to Warcraft III total conversion. Try that, they have a beta out now.

Truest words spoken to date ... (sigh) ... what we need is a new generation of games (or "next-gen") which ACTUALLY innovate - unlike games such as crysis which seemed to be just farcry with a few simplistic suit controls and the worst multi-player seen since they actually started including multi-player in games ... why can't they try something interesting?
OK, rant's almost done now..
I look at a game made now and compare it to one made five years ago and all I can see is a graphical improvement. "The most innovative game ever" or whatever they said, Crysis should be removed from the shelves for false advertising!!!
OK, done.
