Best shooter, not game. Wonderful as HL2 is, as anyone with Raising the Bar will gladly tell you it COULD have been so much better. :)

HL2 is overhyped. I don't mean it's bad, because it is a very good game; but surely, not the one best ever, and not the one without bugs. It doesn't deserve as much attention as it does now, there are many better games (some of them even non-commercial) which are rarely played by a group of maniacs (me being one of them). Also, HL2 brought the commercial aspect of gaming one step further; it is a big money machine. The times when great games were created in garages won't be back. Shame. :(

A good game yes, but far from as impressive as I had expected it to be.

I must say that I was amazed by the graphic quality, even on the lowest setting.

However, I was more looking forward to the storyline, as after playing HL, I believed they would make the storyline HUGE. But although they made a decent storyline, it lacked the length and quality of the original.

i'd say 'technically ok', the rest mediocre. it is not a bad game but definitly not a big-shot. deus-ex rocked more story-wise and gameplay-wise ;)

The physics fit well into the game but it needs some good mods at the moment.

I think it's an awesome game! And with the new Deathmatch it got even better :D

Very good game, but nothing more than very good. Top 10 FPS games perhaps, but apart from the standard "neat graphics" that any new game has and the gimmicky physics it's nothing totally revolutionary. Doubtful this engine will remain strong as long as the HL1 engine did, especially for stuff that could be better already on the horizon (Unreal 3).

never played HL1, so i dont get what all the fuss is all about

i think the developing of the source engine was a big step in gam-developing history, but the story of hl2 was bad.dont get me wrong, i played it, but it was
1)short
and 2)you know what happens next.

so technically great,graphics great, but story bad.

how come so many ppl put "that was a game?" i mean, if your on moddb, you should know, first of all, that everything on here is definately a game, second of all, HL2 has had so much coverage on this website even for a while before its release
