(90 votes)Menu? Theres a menu?
Im building an application for a uni project and my team members and i cant agree on where to place the menu for the app.
Where do you like the menu to be placed?
Any other suggestions are welcome.
You should place it somewhere, where YOU the developer have always felt is a place for a menu.
Be it YOU as an individual or the loudest baby for-crying-out-loud in the team.
Then the team's ought to test it... and... expect changes... repeat.
There is no other way that ensures the products to be good.
Top and right side, like in max
It depends on the user. Ask your users. If your role is the developer or even designer but not the user, then you shouldn't rely on your opinion alone.
Honestly, I'd probably put it at the bottom right, but I'm insane and not a coder.
Don't listen to me.
A lot of spelling mistakes in this Poll. Other than that, I guess it's a useful poll. To some extent, oh hello Lodle, ever heard of the gun called TommyGun? Wink wink ;)
right in the middle so everyone can see it
Always go with functionality - but the only person who can really know, is one that's played with the app ;)
why would you do anything but what the user expects? anything else and you are just forcing extra work on the user. when I open an application I expect to see the menu at the top right.
Just like valve hammer editor, I'd like it to be placeable anywhere, with docking. But still look nicely blended into the desigin. Or the default position, that is.
I think similarity is the best option. It's easy to find the main menu if it's always in the same place, regardless of the application, so similarity is kind of connected with functionality. Similarity also gives applications unified look and thus makes them look better, so it's also connected with looks. Therefore, similarity may be the most important thing in main menu placement.
What? No command line option :P
If it's not a game application, then I like programs that have the default menus..
If it's a game application, then just blast it to the whole screen when I start the game...
Looks don't mean much if you can't use/find it
What menu? XD
Of course, if I were to vote again, I'd say top left.
