(130 votes)A staff profile so people can get to know my team.
(78 votes)A Facebook-style Updates page.
(210 votes)A forum dedicated to offering/requesting help.
(130 votes)A huge store where I can buy/sell mod material and apparel.
(346 votes)More competitions and feature articles.
(386 votes)A huge overhaul of the entire site. I grow weary of this design.
Meh...I was between the site redesign and the forums for help. I don't mind the design of the site...but it could use some "freshing up". Forums would be nice though for people who want to develop a mod but need help. Radio idea IMHO really isn't necessary since the majority of the mods I play have music from the original game (with some major exceptions). Store sounds good...no Facebook doohickey though.
Now that I would like. Want to see what people are saying about your latest 'help wanted' request or media release? - check the RSS feed page. I'm assuming it'd be secondary to checking the front page for news.
I have no idea, mainly new design...
Weary, ever so weary...
major overhaul! this desing is getting lame
Pretty much all of them except for the jukebox.
i like the site design...
none of that
Between facebook and forum.
That all sounds great except the Facebook thing. The store is the best idea though.
What, no pr0n?
the forum, competitions and store options are all kind of nice. radio and facebook options are redundant in my opinion
Some more info about the staff shouldn't be wrong either ^_^
complete overhaul? I heared somewhere work on a new site version has begun already ;P
Though ambershee's suggestion > all ;)
Id like all of it to be done, so I just randomly voted on A staff profile. Hope to see some of these things in the future. :)
competitions ftw
Music :)
It would be nice with mod music but Im in for a re-shape of this site.
better polls
I voted the 'staff profile,' I feel that would do more for getting new team members and PR then getting 'Help Wanted' forums.
The 'Help Wanted' forums would turn into a SPAM fest in my opinion. It would be helpful, but it has that con to it. A staff profile would be much better :)
weary, ever so weary
More feature articles XD
1: A huge overhaul of the entire site. I grow weary of this design.
2: A staff profile so people can get to know my team.
3: A forum dedicated to offering/requesting help.
I like the site as is the color scheme could use some changing but other that that I think its fine as is
For those voting for a HUGE OVERHAUL rest assured that your prayers are being answered. For the past 6 months a new site has been planned and it is about 2 months off a "preview" launch.
So stay tuned, we've improved everything we felt needed improving and have created a site that will hopefully serve the mod / indie community well. Of course we will be opening up the demo shortly to some, to hear your thoughts and make sure what you want to see is done and implemented.
i like the forum idea i don't really see any need for a redesign although staff idea is funky also.
A staff profile page would be cool.
If I want facebook type stuff, I go on facebook.
Please don't try to cash in on a formula that works for a specific audience. Facebook works because it's a networking site that allows you to look up and keep track of old friends. ModDB is about mods, not people. You don't come to ModDB to find out more about modders, there are plenty of far better sites that completely have that covered (concept-artist, conceptart, CGTalk, deviant art, game-artist, mapcore, etc.).
I'd like to see more features and more competitions. The moddb needs to keep in mind that it doesn't have the resources to offer specific and expert advice in specialist fields unless it either merges with other sites or hires a shitload of experts. Other than that it should focus on giving the better mods more coverage. I think it's doing a good job in this respect so far.
I voted for more features, but thats only because I loved every idea but the facebook one. I agree with Crispy about what he says about this site vs facebook.
It would be cool to have a huge store.
It all sounds great!!!
Even though I was unable to vote since I felt like viewing the results first (I forgot it notes your IP even if you click that, rather then actually voting)
I would like to see a major overhaul of the site. A new design would encourage us to browse around more and try out everything to see how it all looks and functions. But if it loses, this is a fine design as well.
To clarify for about the 'Facebook' page, it's simply referring to the style of your news feed. Instead of having a seperate PM inbox, site announcments, thread watch, modWatch etc. they will all be rolled into a single feed. You'd also be able to (hopefully) add almost anything to your feed, so if you wanted to watch comments for a specific image then you'd be able to do that.
jukebox sounds sweet! of course i say that since i produce music
actually now that i got to thinking about it, moddb has supported mods through images and stuff, so why not allow a spot in the mod profile for the producers of different mods a spot to show of their compositions. Would that be too band width heavy is the only problem with that i could think of
Hows about the old Power Puff Girls skin from back in the day? :)
i like the moddb design. cant imagine another design on moddb.
Having MODs as torrent files would help the download speed and would reduce, if not eliminate server load (since the users would be doing all the work) so that's not a bad idea.
However, I do not think (personally) that Mod DB would want to be partnered with a site that potentially distributes illegal copies of games, movies, etc.
On another note, Demonoid.com is better for torrents but that's just what I use.
A music player would be nice, playing some songs from Various Mods
I think you guys should vote for the thing that'll help create mods! The forum section would do that where as getting a new look wouldn't do much
add a new forum section already :D
The site is perfectly fine with how it is atm.
Staff profiles would be very cool. An entire overhaul could be a hit-or-miss type of thing; this design is very nice, but it could certainly be improved beyond just adding more content and redoing the graphical components. At the same time, many websites take on minimalistic designs that really interfere with navigation... just don't do that. ;-P
Music sounds like a gimmick; it really wouldn't make a huge difference. I'd say, add it if you have a flash developer with the know-how... otherwise, don't worry about it.
That's exactly what I meant. Sorry to mislead you. ;)
@ rofl106 -- We actually have something like that in development for v4! We're going to allow users to upload all sorts of different media to showcase on their mod profiles. Expect support for music as well. I just thought it'd be great if there was a random jukebox as well, or the ability to take songs from the mod profiles and add them to a playlist, but only by the composer's consent.
I voted for a huge store, simply because I'd like to support moddb while having a nice shirt that says something like "Mod This" with an arrow pointing to my crotch.
Women would LOVE it.
I think this site should take a little bit of their idea's from Newgrounds. Where as soon as you click on the site, material starts playing. It be cool if you logged on and immediately started hearing the latest soundtracks for mods and seeing the newest vids.
Also I've always liked how you can comment on your favorite mods, saying what you'd like to see in the games. And I've almost always gotten responses. I like that kind of immersion. It makes me feel like I have an affect on where games are headed.
Also the forums have always been great. To put out your opinions and get feedback from them.
I think a huge store that not only sells gaming related items, but also items promoting Moddb would be good.I'd love a pair of those sweat pants or shorts that say "Moddb" across the rear. That would be so much better than the ones on the market that say something like "sexy" or "Juicy", because lets face it: if it says Moddb, then sexiness is just implied! For the guys, we could just do some t-shirts, hats, etc.
yeah the store is best idea
Very nice idea.
IF this does happen to become a feature, PLEASE accept PayPal as a payment option. That is all that I ask.
More feature articles.
We had a store its sold 3 games... its not a good idea...
how can i freaking vote.... it just shows the results and no voting.... and do i freaiing create a poll???
