(143 votes)Suck. The same old stuff always wins
(172 votes)Great. I always find cool new things
(136 votes)Interesting. Good for a read, nothing more
(91 votes)Who Cares. I didn't win :(
Good for a read, passed the time.
The known a mod is the more likely they will win!
The biggest mods will always win, so it's not like anyone is getting to see or try anything new.
2nd option. :P
I like them for a read. Might find some new things.
argh
I wonder if Kingmaker's getting an award, I don't think so though :(
The competition as a whole is a great item that should have the dual objective of rewarding hard work and introducing gamers to new mods so they can "Play Something Different". I think these awards gave a rather weak account of the second of these two key ideas.
I would have preferred more discussion on some of the lesser-known mods that were chosen. It's one thing to simply say that a mod won, but there will be lots of people asking themselves what genre it is and whether they'd like the gameplay. I don't think the awards or the results feature really went into enough depth (or even gave a decent overview) of the winners. Granted, you can always check the mod profile to find out more, but we want to know what the 'experts' think, not what the developers and fanbois claim their mod has. I also preferred it in previous years when there were runners up for certain categories, as there's more likelihood of you finding mods that you haven't heard of to try out.
On a second read of the ModDB feature I take back what I said about it not giving a good enough overview. I'd still have liked to see greater scope, though.
omg
not that im disagreeing with the quality of the mods that won but i would like to see more original concepts out, but it seems like with mods like goldeneye, incoming source(old halo concept), perfect dark, and over a thousand zombie mods out there originality really gives u little when it comes to popularity. grats to winners tho wish ya luck. i love lua support :)
Good for a read, doesn't do much more then a good read.
dystopia should have won
