Welcome!

As you may or may not know, quite a few months ago I released a tiny little mod called “Half-Life: Space Dynamic Escapee”. Of course, it was my first mod, and as such it was absolute hot garbage not worthy of being played ever. After learning A LOT in mapping, I have decided to commit to a passion project - recreating my absolutely terrible mod and turning it into an actually decent mod absolutely worth playing!

Of course, the mod is still running on GoldSrc, and it has no code modifications as of now and not a lot of models changed from the base game. Out of model changes, most of them are viewmodel changes - which are just reskinned Barney hands from Blue Shift, but retextured to be orange in colour to match that of an American prisoner jumpsuit; orange with white t-shirt. The new HECU grunts, or as they’re referred to in canon of Space Dynamic Escapee, Security Team Member models were changed from being doodoo caca cyan to actually looking proper. Nothing crazy detailed, but I think it works nicely. The Security Team Member model was made by my friend Newb, who has kindly accepted helping on the models, but referring to himself as Oracio at the moment. Here’s a comparison between the new and the old models!
To avoid confusion, no. These do not replace HECU in this universe - the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit still exists, just plays a less prominent role in the mod.

Next, maps. I have been doing progress at a really fast pace, already finishing up the first (and only) map of the first chapter under the name of The Corporation. This is the progress so far. As you may see, it’s a pre-disaster map. In fact, the first two chapters of the game take place pre-disaster; this is because Richard Falkins, the main character, starts his escape at around 7 AM, while the resonance cascade takes place at around 9 AM. Without further ado, let’s see what the first map is in itself!

Obviously, the maps aren’t perfect, and will 100% be improved upon later down the development of the mod. Especially because there’s still about 40 maps to go - and that’s right, the mod will be as long as the Half-Life campaign! This is why you should expect the release to be by 2023, or even 2024. It really depends, especially considering the maps would still require a lot of polishing. Which is why you can help!
