Soon after Version 1.0 was released, I decided to focus on resolving lingering issues with the original mod that were caused by its age and problems with file structure, namely the army painter crash, loose files, and many other. Alongside that, I took the opportunity to give the mod a new look and feel in anticipation of new content, as well as fix some balancing issues. All of this and more is now available in the recently released version 1.1, the changelog of which is available in the Description on its ModDB file page and in the mod's archive itself. Among the visual changes is also a memorial image for Felix Lindemann, also known as SquadBroken or Proteus, the creator of the original Unofficial Codex Continuation that this mod is based on. May he rest in peace.

Version 1.1 can be downloaded from the file page here.

With this small but important overhaul comes the anticipation of new content. So... what does that look like? Well, the short-term plan is to introduce new units to fill the gaps in some army rosters, since factions like the Tau, Imperial Guard, and Tyranids lack variety, while the Chaos Space Marines could use a few god-specific units and an Undivided Chaos Lord. However, bug fixing will take priority when issues are encountered, since it is important to make sure that the existing units function properly before polishing the new ones. For that reason, I would once again like to encourage you all to either comment somewhere on the ModDB page when you find a problem, or join the Discord server and do so there. Other than that, you can expect a few maps here and there when the mood strikes me.

As far as long-term plans are concerned, new factions are obviously on the list. There are still some things to figure out, but you can probably expect Grey Knights to be the first ones in, largely because they already exist in the game files and thus are a good foundation for me to hone my skills in preparation for the others. That said, I do have a few friends assisting me with modeling and giving advice on modding, so the only obstacle should end up being time constraints instead of being stuck fixing a software issue for hours.

Alongside the short-term and long-term plans, there are longer-term plans. In short, I've been keen on experimenting a little bit with a Kill Team-esque "gamemode" that would be similar to... well... Kill Team... and Last Stand... but through PVP. The idea of it is actually not very complex in terms of wrangling the game to make it work, as it would largely depend on player input; the problem is the amount of time it would take to make maps designed for it and stats for each faction refined for it. This is not happening until all of the current and upcoming content is refined and polished, but I wanted to put it out there to see if people are interested in something like that at all.

With that in mind, there is currently just a small group of playtesters for the mod, and due to time constraints and the size of the mod itself, it is easy to miss bugs or flawed features. For that reason, I am looking for people who would be willing to download and preview development versions of the mod periodically as new content is added. If you wish to help with that, please contact me either here on ModDB, or through the Discord server.

For those of you who are just coming in, please check out this Article in order to familiarize yourselves with the factions and new units introduced in the mod.

Finally, you might have already noticed that I have rebranded the ModDB page and the Discord server to "DoW II: Codex Edition". This came as a suggestion from a few people already, and it makes it cleaner in the name, so I went with it. If any of the people who have previously been involved with this chain of "Codex" mods have a problem with this, we can talk it over, but otherwise, it feels healthy.

Well... that's it... thank you all and have fun!

How do you play as Tau?

You must select the Tau Commander under the Imperial Guard faction. Properly implementing new factions isn't something this game likes, so the Tau have just been placed under IG.
