I would've posted this to my own profile, but I figured it'd get more attention here. So! What's been happening with the mod?
In short, not a lot. I've made one or two animations for the reboot, but no real progress. I've also thought about cancelling it or even switching to Max 2, since I'd have more freedom there in regards to certain features. But in the end, I still haven't decided on anything.
But that's just the FPS mod. I'm currently devoting my efforts to a different project- still a mod, and still for Max Payne. Just instead of Max Payne 1, we're talking about 2. Work on it started quite a while ago and I've made a considerable amount of progress since then, but it's still far from a release. Which is why I, at this point, am reluctant to show what I've got- it's simply not good enough yet. It'd be better to have something more complete before a first reveal (trust me on this one!), and, this time around, I'd rather be cautious and not announce something which may or may not actually end up getting released.
What I can say, though, is that my motivation for this new project is at an all-time high! I've been making steady progress for quite a while now, something quite rare for me.
So there: I'm not dead, and I'm still hard at work! But don't hold your breath for a lot of updates regarding the FPS mod soon- sorry about that!

As for this one, I really hope you don't cancel! But if it ever comes to that, I hope you release what you have!
Depending on how things go with it, there might be a closed testing phase sooner or later. Still, I'd rather not announce anything until it's closer to a release.
I still haven't decided what to do with the FPS mod. I'd of course prefer to have it released.

I do hope the FPS mod will see the light of the day and, of course, the update to the great Ammo mod as well! The unreleased Beta version has been very reliable!
The main problem with that beta is that, currently, it crashes the game as soon as the new crosshair appears if playing on fullscreen mode. I may revisit it one of these days and see if I can sort it out.
It never crashed for me and I did play on full screen...
If that's the case, you may have a version previous to me adding in the new crosshair model, or with an older version of it.
