With the much anticipated Tour of Duty mod pretty much complete, one of the many mod lovers at the modDB HuRR, was able to snatch up the chance, to test out the beta. Here is a short'n'sweet review of this incredibly promising mod!
One thing I can say about ToD is that it is Amazing. Now if you dont know ToD is a mod based on the Vietnam war. Based on 2 teams the Vietcong and the USMC. There has been tons of Vietnam mods around, this one is truly the best and this is why. The maps and coding are done so sweet that it doesn't seem that you are running on the Half Life engine. I understand some of the rain looks fake, but what could you do to an almost 5 year old engine?. When I heard the word Helicopter I truly didn't believe but seeing it in game on the de_lz map was great. Basically all the things that made the Vietnam war what it is, from people screaming from all directions to gun fire in the backround. This mod is a must have when it is released. There is one thing that the team is working this very moment and that is the player models they are ok but will be redone and made into more realistic models. The weapons are amazing and dont require any changes.
If i can hehe .. I want to bite off Ebert and Roeper and make thier famous slogan this mod is 2 thumbs up and I highly recommend it. That's basically it, be sure to drop by the mods official website or its modDB profile and stay tuned to hear more about this great upcoming mod.

Funny, but every review and preview of the mod says differently about the quality of Tour of Duty. Of course there are going to be people that don't like what we have done and that is cool. You say that you have beta tested for ToD, if you have, then maybe you should have spent some time constructively criticizing the mod in the beta forums to help improve it. Since none of our beta testers has ever expressed comments this negative (the majority are very enthusiastic) I can only assume that you have ulterior motives ;)
We encourage people to check out the other HL mods, CiN and SOG. We are all doing great things with the Half-Life engine and we all have different visions, so check them out and see what suits you best. We look forward to the day when CiN has something that Mod sites like this can preview and we can all get some unbiased reviews so our fans can make the choice for themselves :D
