We are pleased to announce that Tour of Duty is one of four mods that have been selected to be on a "Mod Collection" CD that will be distributed with the United State's largest gaming magazine, Computer Gaming World. The three other mods that will be included on the CD are Counter-Strike 1.5, Day of Defeat 3.1 and FireArms 2.6. It is a great honour to be included with the best mods out there and bodes well for the future of Tour of Duty.

The CD will ship with the November issue of the magazine and will be on sale October 1, so make sure you get out and get your copy early. Computer Gaming World has a distribution of over 340,000, so we should see the mods popularity soar next month.

just wanted to be one of the first to say congrats on this achievement. You really are included with some big-name mods there and this is bound to get your mod all the more attention that it and other mods like it truely deserve!

Thanks for the great comments guys, we appreciate it :D

We have been busting to let everyone know about this for weeks, but have been sitting on it for weeks just to be sure. It is a big coup for us and we are really proud that our mod was considered good enough. A lot of that is due to you guys though, without the support of news sites like moddb and of our fans, we would never have made it. Thanks, especially to everyone here at moddb for the great support we've received :D

CGW is a crappy magazine though. They have the most biased reviews (think Tribes2) and they're total Everquest drones. They also have false hardware reviews "kyro2 made this 200mhz jump to 45993dmarks!". Also, the magazines contain 35% information, all the rest are advertizements. And finally, they're VERY late when giving news. The biggest publisher lag ever.

PCGamer forever. PCGamer's cheaper too. Honor counts on PCGamer. They hate counter-strike ;)

Ya, congrats! I agree with the latter, PC Gamer is better (I'm a subscriber!), you should maybe try with them next.

Well, I guess like politics, the media makes for strange bedfellows too. One lesson that's hard for some in politics to learn is not to offend the media (we all have skeletons, and they'll find them - cigar Bill? :P), or let your personal tastes get in the way.

They contacted us out of the blue, not overly familiar with the publication myself. Ah well, anything that the public consumes has fans and enemies I guess, so we'll try to get our PR dogs biting at the ankles of PC Gamer too for the future. :)
