One of the most curiously popular genres to emerge in the past few years is the clicker genre. Stripping nearly all the fluff away from most progression-based systems in games, clickers have distilled the satisfaction of watching progress bars increase into bite-sized, single-tap experiences. They're silly, sure, but also strangely satisfying. Clickers aren't for everyone though, and to some the passiveness of it all just isn't enough to get their juices flowing. That's why I really took a shining to Tap Quest [Free], which released a month ago from Nanoo Company.
Tap Quest took the essence of your average clicker but assigned a simple combat mechanic to all the tapping. It's actually a very cool, very twitchy tower-defending game wrapped up in oodles of upgrade systems. The combat is simplistic and a seemingly minor addition, but it adds a lot to the game. Now a month into its life and Tap Quest is getting a big update which adds among many other things a new Infinity Mode. Check out a brief trailer.
Besides that new endless survival mode, version 2.0 introduces the "Fever" gameplay system, adds "The Conqueror" tier 10 equipment set, a Dragon relic, a "Starter Pack" IAP and lots more. The version 2.0 update is already in Apple's approval queue, and if all goes well it should be out at some point this week. If you haven't yet, be sure to read our review of Tap Quest, or if you're a clicker fan or just curious about the genre, give it a download for free and check it out for yourself.
